Order was easy. Delivery quick. Promised free gift of a bottle of wine or cake did not arrive. all e-mails regarding this were ignored. mixed wine case was odd. cheap in price & quality but drinkable. however all 3 wine varieties seemed to taste the same. labels did not look authentic more like something someone had knocked up on a computer. i should have read customer feed back 1st.

As you all can see "the italian deli" has now disappeared. It stopped trading and there is no sign of my money or my order. I had to call my credit card company to get my money back.

Further to my earlier review , I received an email from The Italian Deli this week to the effect they had now stopped trading, but would honour pending orders ? They also recommended two other companies but a recommendation from "The Italian Deli" is worth absolutely nothing.

Im not surprised they've pulled the plug, a truly shocking experience and one which one does not expect from an online company. They certainly didnt deserve to succeeed and I note from other reviewers a trading pattern of rude emails , replacement inferior goods and date expired items.

I for one will be keeping a lookout in case they try and reincarnate themselves after all the negative comments.

My son ordered stuff well in advance of my anniversary, it was not posted until the day after the event. There was no message with it - which he had requested - but there was an invoice showing how much he had spent.When I complained to them by Email I got an arrogant and rude reply describing my complaint as "ludicerous"(sic). And they sent the same to my son which I had specifically asked them not to do. The products are obviously good but they don't make them! Find another site to order from if you do not want to risk disappointment and shoddy service.

The website looks professional, the range looks good, the delivery options great. Sadly none of it was evident in the order I received from this company. Breadsticks nearly out of date, the wrong pasta, incorrect quantities, missing cheese: and NO attempt to contact me or discuss anything in the WEEK it took them to fulful my order (I'd requested next day delivery).

Their replies to my emails have been completely inadequate so far, and I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone, nor will I EVER order anything from them ever again. A total shambles. How sad.

I recently ordered some products from theitaliandeli.co.uk and I have to say they are fantastic. I have read some bad reviews and can honestly say I have experienced nothing but excellence with this company. I ordered some '00' flour as it is so hard to find, some semolina flour and san marzano tomatoes. It all arrived in 4 days and was bubble wrapped for protection. I have just ordered another £30 worth of products. You can definitely trust this site!

Another one who should have listened. I saw these reviews but thought they can't be that bad, so I placed an order with them yesterday for various bits and pieces (wine mainly) coming to around £150. It all went through fine and they accepted my credit card payment.

This morning, I get an email to say my order is cancelled. No explanation, nothing. I've tried ringing a number of times and there's no-one there and worse, you can't even leave a message because all the mailboxes are full. I've emailed and have yet to receive any reply.

It's a shame because it looks from the website like they have some nice stuff at reasonable prices, but it looks like they can't be trusted to order from.

Thank God I paid with credit card - I was going to pay by PayPal until I saw these reviews.

I wish i discovered these reviews before. I ordered mozzarella 2kg piece and got 1kg different than on web and 2 week expired, ordered 1kg green olives pitted and got 2kg black olives, ordered salame pepperoni 0.5kg and got salame villani dela casa 0.25kg.

I can't be bothered to contact them as I see from reviews it is pointless. Typical Italian experience. Rip off in Italy now rip off in the UK.

Customer service in form of denial to mistakes will see me never buying there ever again. To much hassle when there are other shops out there who understand customer service.

My recommendation: take your custom somewhere else.

Look, it's ok if you have time to wait. Great value for money and stuff is genuine - I'm Italian and was happy with it. That's it though. They NEVER answer the phone, maybe volume is too low? Email reply is precious too. What's the matter with you silly shop! YOu can't run it like Italy in the UK! My order arrived 10 days late and most items where replaced, albeit with more expensive ones. They are typically Italian - chaotic with a 'fuggeddabotit' attitude. If you can put up with that, go for it. Once ordered remember, you'll never hear from them again, I give you my word. Prices are 2/3 than deli shops. Buy with Credit Card so you can get refund from your card issuer if order goes wrong, which it will, inevitably.
