I placed an order on 14th September 2012 and was given a delivery date of 19th September. When my order didnt arrive I contacted the company and was told that even though I was given a delivery date I should have checked their website to see that because of my postal code I should expect delivery the following date. I asked them to check with the carriage company and ask when I could expect a delivery, they contacted me to let me know that they couldn't guarantee delivery, and therefore they said that they would be returning my order and would not be able to take any future orders from me! I told them that I had previously spent alot of money with them with no previous problems. It didnt make a difference. 8 days later I am still waiting for my refund......

Recently purchased some chicken breasts.

When they came they were not frozen, which a lot of their stuff is.

They were in two bags. The first bag wasn't sealed and just folded over.

The second bag, containing the breasts was open - it looked as if it had got torn on something as it was partially sealed.

The chicken breasts smelt bad.

I immediately emailed the company - this was 5 days ago. I've sent them 4 more emails and still not had any reply at all.

I've tried contacting them on different email addresses but they come back as unable to be delivered?!

Having now read another review from someone else who had a similar problem and also didn't hear from this bad company, I'm going to contact my bank to see if they will help as I spent over £100.

Do not use this company at all please unless you like receiving bad meat.

First time customer, put in a nice order to try out the Clare Barry service. Order didn't arrive until 5.30pm which we felt was slightly late to have fresh and frozen food sat on a courier van. Not there fault as that's down to the courier company.

Opened the box to find it neatly packed but the sausages had defrosted. Not wanting to risk refreezing them we had the mammoth task of eating 54 sausages in 4 days. Ended up giving them away.

Sent a pleasant email detailing our issues but had no response.

The meat we've had so far is actually nice (mixed meat box which was fresh meat) but sadly we won't be returning.

I ordered meat from freshmeat2u.co.uk in December 2007 and by the time it was delivered 5 days after dispatch it was a putrid mess. Owner refused refund so pursued them via county court for 10 months before finally securing my money and expenses. I would stick with Donald Russell - they're not perfect but the customer service is generally professional and reactive to a problem. freshmeat2u.co.uk points to the new Claire Barry website so I presume they have altered their identity.

Poor quality steaks. I could get better at Tesco which doesn't really inspire me to pay so much extra per a kg!

The site makes it look like the steaks are going to be good, they have just been professionally shot. Despite saying that the food is fresh, the steaks arrived to me in an half defrosted state which tells me that they used to be frozen.

Very poor.

Have taken delivery of my first order from Clare Barry and am delighted with it. It was all superbly packed, and individually vacuum packed. I feel certain that the eating will be as good as it looks and I shall certainly be ordering again. It's good to know there's a quality butcher available at prices I can afford.

I found Clare Barry and decided to give them a call after reading through there "About us" page. I spoke to them in person who explained that they were a family run butchers-just online. I was completely won over. The goods arrived within 24 hours, in perfect condition, meat so far is quality. I am completely won over and shall be ordering again.
