Flatters To Deceive
The wonderful thing about buying flowers as a gift for somebody else is that you never actually get the opportunity to see what exactly you are getting for your money. And as you are very unlikely to ever physically see your purchase you must place a certain level of trust with the florist to delivery as promise and meet your expectation.
Sadly this is where Ray's Florist have let me down. The imagery of bouquets on their website really does flatter to deceive. First of all your bouquet will not be delicately wrapped in colour-matched premium paper and tied together with a generously lavish ribbon. Nope. Instead you will get the bog standard supermarket plastic wrapping lassoed with the sort of tacky shiny plastic ribbon you'd wrap your cousin's birthday presents in. Okay this alone I could probably forgive but then they also choose to omit the pink carnations with ugly green/yellow carnations. So instead of the lovely visually warm impact of a stunning pink bouquet I thought I was buying as a special gift for a special someone. We end up quite frankly, with a bit of a dog's dinner with the subtle tones of the pink roses lost amongst a bush of green (the roses were also disappointingly not as fresh as they could of been).
Not impressed considering I deliberately spent that extra, to go the extra because I thought I would be getting that little bit extra special. Their ebay business seems to be thriving and the bulk of their goodwill seems to stem from this side of the operation. On the positive the bouquet was delivery on time and without issue. Probably not as dire as some florists but still no excuse.
