I ordered a guitar tuner and a couple of Simpson plectrums for my young son. He didn't especially need more plectrums, but he liked the Otto design on these ones.

I received confirmation from PayPal for the transaction, but nothing from Giftmonger.

After not hearing anything for two weeks, I emailed to enquire if they'd forgotten my order, or to let me know when I should expect it.

The next day (suspiciously, I thought) my parcel arrived. The invoice stated they couldn't get the Simpson plectrums, so included a replacement (African motif) instead, and a Simpsons figure as compensation.

Now I understand that stock can't always be obtained, and appreciated the gesture of a figure in compensation, but that's not my problem.

In this age where you can have your pick of 100 web sites to buy something from, I find that price isn't always a deciding factor; I'd much prefer to order from somewhere that I am confident the item will be the right one, delivered on time, or at least have good communication if there's a problem. That customer service is what makes a really good site, as opposed to an average one.

As it is, I've bought two plectrums I didn't really need to (as the design was everything), but the low cost (about £1) doesn't really warrant posting back for a refund. Strangely enough, this feels more like low-level mugging and can be more infuriating than paying something like £10 more for an expensive item you may find cheaper elsewhere.

I can't say they are a bad company, it's just in this one case I dealt with them I had three bad points, which would put me off recommending them.
