Beware Purveyors Of Counterfeit Software

I orginally found the Tigerdoom website after looking online for Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 software. Tigerdoom appeared to pass the test with a good 'combo' deal for £199.

Tigerdoom Trading say they are based at 8 Old Rectory Close Cookstown, BT80 9YE with a telephone number and email address. Having checked various review sites there were no adverse comments regarding the retailer, I therefore went ahead with the purchase using paypal. My suspicions were initially raised when I did not receive any formal order confirmation or receipt, neither did they answer any queries to my emails.

The items arrived quickly however. The packaging was extremely convincing and my suspicions were only confirmed when I inspected the enclosed DVDs.The dead giveaway was the hologram which comprised a stick on label rather being integral within the disk; there are plenty of youtube examples if you are unsure. Unsurprisingly, Tigerdoom have yet to respond to my emails or the Paypal investigation.

So, BUYER BEWARE. Tigerdoom Trading are pushing counterfeit software!

I bought MS Office 2010 in April 2012, but didn't try to load till this week. I have had the same problem - just wished I'd loaded it straight away. Do you have a phone no/e-mail for this bunch?

All websites seem to have been taken down.

Thank you for posting this.

I also purchased this software from Tigerdoom in July and when it later failed validation in November I found your post so I examined my discs.

Your description is accurate. I too have sent material to Microsoft who confirm the goods are not authentic. I have also been unable to get a response from the supplier despite many attempts and am now preparing papers for the Small Claims Court while also submitting a claim to the credit card company under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. I have also notified Trading Standards at the Department of Enterprise in Northern Ireland (where the supplier is based) - they have contacted me and are taking this seriously: I think they would welcome further evidence so I suggest you send them a note of your experience especially if you have photos and your response from Microsoft. (To find N Ireland Trading Standards search for “Trading Standards”, along with www [dot] DETINI [dot] gov [dot] uk. Let's see if we can stop this supplier from benefiting further.

By way of an update. Tigerdoom have refunded the cost of the software as a result of the Paypal involvement. Although Tigerdoom have still never replied directly to my original emails.

I sent the counterfeit software to Microsoft and they have confirmed that it is counterfeit. They say they will be sending a complimentary kit, whatever that is?

The thing that still bothers me however, is that Tigerdoom are still pushing this software on their website. So, as I say above, buyer beware!
