Garden bench cracked in 2 places after a year - they said I must have done it & refused refund!

Bought what looked like a lovely garden bench and thought it would last many years. After one winter, kept in a sheltered private garden, I went out to sit on it and noticed cracks in the arms at both sides. This is the response I received after complaining to Dawson's: After reviewing the invoice and photos provided, we regret to inform you that we are unable to accept your claim for the damaged bench. The invoice indicates that the bench has been in use for over 1 year. Based on the photos, the damage to the two arm sections appears extensive and does not align with a manufacturing defect. Instead, it suggests possible external factors, such as excessive dragging or the bench falling to the ground, potentially due to the bad weather. As per our warranty policy, damages caused by external factors or improper handling are not covered under manufacturer defects. We understand this outcome may be disappointing, but please be assured that we have thoroughly reviewed all the evidence before making this decision. If your customer needs replacement parts (two arm parts), we can provide them for £100 + VAT, including the delivery charge. I would definitely give this company a swerve because their products are very poor quality and the after sales care abysmal.

Not The Make I Ordered.

I ordered a Dorma Bed Set. I didn't unpack as we went away.

When I opened the Label States it is a Dunelm product.

If I wanted Dunelm I would have just gone up the road to get one,

Bit I don't like Dunelm Bedding. I am very Disappointed with this item.

Also was very creased, and pillow cases were all screwed up.

However they are a quick service, and Delivery.

Ordered a Le Creuset cast iron casserole dish early Sunday afternoon on 22/12/13 and it arrived at 9.30am the following morning. Quality item and excellent packaging. 5 star product, price and service. Thoroughly recommend.

Poole Pottery, Volcano Vase

I ordered a Poole vase from Dawsons Department Store. It was the best service that I have ever received. The vase was very well packed and delivery could not have been quicker or more efficient. I was kept constantly advised on the delivery by text and e-mail messages and City Link arrived right to the minute that they told me.

Recently ordered bed linen and curtains for the first time, the quality of the goods are excellent, I am very pleased, and from now on I will buy all my bedding and curtains from Dawsons, I may try some towels too. Very good customer services and e mails etc. I live in the Republic of Ireland and the delivery was here within a few days, I have reccomended already to family in the UK So very pleased! I cannot fault the Companyat all and highly reccomend them, and customer services as good as John Lewis M&S minus the prices! the prices are very good as you get top quality goods ie Dorma Sandersons etc

Excellent Service

Ordered some top quality duvet covers at rock bottom prices and they arrived well packaged 48 hours later. Received regular email updates on my order, the despatch and a specified delivery time - I even knew the name of the delivery driver!! Fantastic service and will definitely use them again in future. Based on my experience, I have no hesitation in recommending this company.

This is the first time I have written an unsolicited review but I am so impressed with the service I have received from Dawson's Department Store that I felt they deserved a little effort on my part. I ordered a dinner service on Saturday and it was delivered the following Tuesday - beautifully packaged and exactly as ordered. The item was very competitively priced and excellent value for money and I was given a delivery time which was precise almost to the minute. I have no hesitation in recommending this store to anyone who wants swift and efficient service and real value for money.

Unbeleivable Level Of Service.

I'm writing this review on behalf of my parents who insisted I sing the praises of the Dawsons Department Store's website. After being messed around by a couple of other retailers and ending up with a poor quality garden parasol from one, which they returned for a refund, they asked me to look for one online. They wanted the Hartman brand in particular, but everywhere was sold out of the model, size and colour they wanted... but Dawsons had stock of a different Hartman model that took their fancy. And let us not forget that many sites claim stock, take your money and then order off a supplier, meaning you have to wait weeks for your goods. Not so with Dawsons. I ordered the parasol on the Tuesday evening, they dispatched it Wednesday morning, it was at our front door on Thursday morning. And all for £4.95 P&P (curiously it says P&P is £5.95 on orders less than £100, and free delivery on orders over £100, but we were charged only £4.95.) The quality of the parasol was unbelievable... infinitely better than what my parents had seen everywhere else. The best, however, was the price; The RRP of the parasol was £90, but it was on offer with 50% off. Further to this, they had a one week only 15% off everything on the whole site... so my parents ended up paying about £38 for a £90 solar parasol, and they're that happy with the quality of it they said they'd have probably paid the full RRP elsewhere.

An extremely good experience all round... from site navigation, checkout, delivery cost, delivery time and quality of goods. Only if all online businesses were like this!

Oh, and just so you know... the dawsonsdepartmentstore.co.uk website branches off into sub-sites, if you like, each with a different name. So if you click on bed linen, you're taken to justlinen.co.uk, if you click on garden furniture, you're taken to gardenfurnitureworld.co.uk (which we dealt with) and so on and so forth. However, all of these are run by Dawsons from their actual 'brick and mortar' department store in Clitheroe Lancashire.
