Won't Refund Money

Canceled my repair service and they won't refund my money. The debit card I used for initial payment was lost by my husband. Because they cannot use this card they will not refund my money. They will not refund my money by check or my debit card.Very slow returning my emails.

Cold Call Scam

My wife has had three calls from this outfit and has asked them to call back as she knows that there would be a minor nuclear explosion if she started messing with the PC in the way they suggest. This time I was at home and knowing it to be a likely scam went along with them until I could work out what they wanted to do. After 5 minutes of me playing thick they gave up. Please avoid at all costs.

Nerd Support - Now Nerdi Support - Same Phishing Scam Though

Got a cold call from 'John Smith' (nice Indian Name considering the thickness of his Indian accent combined with the a tang of call centre trained American), calling from the London (yeah, right) offices of NERDI. He advised me that he is a registered Microsoft Technician and that they have had confirmation of over 3000 virus/errors on my PC. Now, I know this is a scam, no one cold calls you to offer assistance with you 'Problem' PC, so I tagged along. What i need to do is turn on my computer, open the windows start menu (which he explained to me like a 4 year old child, i got annoyed at this point and told him to get on with it as I know my way around a PC and windows) and to open the 'RUN' function (alarm bells should now be ringing), then to enter the acronym for brining up the event viewer, something like 'eventvwr'. Now I know perfectly well what this is, does and contains, so again i played along. He the proceeded to ask me to confirm some of the 'Errors' I was getting, I did, ' Oh on, you have a number of system errors caused by Trojan virus's' which apparently my world class virus software cant remove because it doesn't know it exists, and for a small fee (£50) and allowing him access to control my PC remotely he would rid my PC of all the infected files and errors. Whilst this was going on I was actually Googling his company name 'NERDI' and for event viewer phishing scams, low and behold, i may not be able to find any trace of a company called NERDI but this scam has been running for years, previously in Australia. I asked John what country he was calling from (so that I could suitably insult him before I hung up on him) and the kicker, 'Im based in London'. Well suffice to say that I told him to move away swiftly and procreate with his mothers ass (or something towards that fashion) and hung up on him. Can you believe he called straight back to ask why i had insulted him and that he certainly was not running a scam to either get access to my PCs files or my bank/card details. I offered the same statement about his mum and hung up. Thankfully no further calls have come through.

Be warned, this scam appears to be alive and well and now operating with UK telephone numbers. Do not give them your details. Do not pay for their service. this is a phishing scam that has obviously been sold onto someone new using an Indian based call unit or office.

And finally. Microsoft will not cold call you for any reason what so ever.

The only reason you would receive a call from Microsoft, especially for IT related issues, is because you have requested them to call you through one of their service/maintenance channels.

If you haven’t called them first, they are not from Microsoft.

Yes - still hapenning - just got such a call today - [name removed] was the caller from London - though he refused to give me the address of the company - when I insisted he thought I was going to do something 'fishy' with the address! He also couldn't explain how thw anonymoue error reports sent to microsoft (which I've turned off) contain any reference to my phone number

The Nerd Support Is Not A Legitimate Company. Here

The Nerd Support is not a legitimate company. Here is what I know from my elderly father's experience:

1. They prey on the less computer savvy people they cold call with made up scare stories about viruses.

2. They claim to be from Microsoft or from the "mark's" ISP.

3. They take money for illegally pirated copies of Windows 7.

4. With the mark's assistance over the 'phone, they take remote control of the mark's computer. What they do in addition to bit-torrenting the illegal version of Windows 7, god only knows.

5. They take money for non-existent PC "support" services. My father is 83 and was persuaded to take a 10 year contract!

6. They leave a contact number which doesn't work.

7. Once they have successfully scammed a mark, they will keep calling back, again and again, presumably with a view to obtaining more personal information, or extracting more money for further illegal goods and fictitious services.

8. They are based in India, although financial transactions appear to go through Cyprus. No doubt the personal information they use is stolen from Indian call-centres.

9. These "people" are thieves and con-artists, with absolutely no consciences.

10. There appears to be absolutley nothing that can be done to stop them.

I Also Think This Is A Scam. I Have Had 2 Calls Fr

I also think this is a scam. I have had 2 calls from them - same spiel as the other reviewers. Fortunately I am reasonably computer literate. As soon as they are challenged they hang up. However I think Microsoft should be taking action as they claim to be acting on their behalf and to be an Accredited Partner.

I Downloaded A Trojan Virus When Downloading Some

I downloaded a trojan virus when downloading some quiz photos of famous names. The next day I got a call from this company (coincidence ?) to say my windows xp was causing microsoft a problem and that they (Nerdsupport) worked in conjunction with microsoft, they seemed to know all about my computer problem and I naively fell for the sucker punch of paying £185 so that they could download windows 7 onto my pc remotely. I became suspicious and didnt want anyone with remote access to my computer in the future and asked for my money back, after a lot a haggling and my threatening to go to my local trading standards they refunded all of my money back with a week

They're A Con. They Cold Call You And Try To Get Y

They're a con. They cold call you and try to get you to pay to remove a non-existent virus from your PC. Just do a bit of searching to find out more about this company. The sooner they go out of business the better. Sometimes they take your card details and claim they won't charge you anything, that it's just for ID, but then they charge you anyway.

There are plenty of great local PC repair shops - use one of them where if you have a problem you can get Trading Standards or the police involved. If you have a dispute with the Nerd Support, you will be out of luck because they're based in India and you won't have any legal recourse.
