So Disappointed With Borders Online. Had A Gift Vo
So disappointed with Borders online. Had a gift voucher for my birthday so decided to use it on the online store. Slightly complicated procedure as the card had to be registered first, and then amount you wanted to use from the card entered separately. Did all of this, at the end of the ordering process the online invoice showed money coming from the giftcard and a little from my debit card. One of the books post-ordering was listed as "out of print" (in fact according to Amazon is on pre-order), it took them a week to even think of posting the remaining books to me, and they charged the whole amount to my debit card because even though there was a problem with their computer system, they claimed it was my fault (according to their system all books were despatched 1/1/1970!). Will never order from them again, their claim of 100% satisfaction is a joke. Telephone services unhelpful, email services haven't replied. Avoid.

I Had The Most Unsatisfying Experience With Border
I had the most unsatisfying experience with Borders books online. My husband placed and order online on 23rd May 2009, this was for my birthday and we were told it was in stock and would take 3-5 working days. It is now 6 weeks later, my birthday has been and gone, and we are still waiting!
The order has been'dispatched'' around 4 times now, each time we get a different dispatch and delivery date. There was no communication when the stock did not arrive and we stayed at home all day on the 27th June waiting for the delivery, only to find out that they are still waiting for stock and MIGHT receive it on the 3rd July!
I am the type of person that gives a second, maybe even third chance...but this has become a joke!. I am truly dissapointed and will never shop at Borders online again.

The New Borders.co.uk Page Is Certainly Aesthetica
The new Borders.co.uk page is certainly aesthetically pleasing, however in my experience it is merely a pretty facade masking utterly appalling customer service. As several reviews suggest, the checkout process differs from the accepted norm of sites such as eBay, and can be confusing. Also, there is a tendency for the final stages of payment to end in an error message rather than confirmation of success, coupled with items still appearing in the basket. This is utterly misleading, as these apparently failed orders can have in fact gone through. The chances of duplicate orders is worryingly high, and woe betide the foolish customer who requests the intervention of an actual human being. The new website is all very well, but not backed up by equally cleverly-designed customer support

I was dealt with by a fantastic member of staff who was more than helpful and found me a book that was signed by the author Kate Aidy. She was a credit to the store being so customer focused. I will shop there again.

Borders - I'm One Of These Sad People Who Like Wan
Borders - I'm one of these sad people who like wandering around book stores, getting lost in and around shelves packed full of novels and just generally taking in the sights and smells of a book retailer.
Borders is one of those places where you could stay all day browsing their wares. Flicking through books that you will never buy and looking interested in that £60 hardback you wouldn't be seen dead purchasing.
Friendly staff and knowledgeable too about their stock and a huge selection of books, DVD's, board games and magazines some domestic and a lot imported. I like it.
The only drawback about Borders though is the lure of Starbucks. That strong smell of coffee and cake is usually too much, especially if you have been browsing long and the result is usually a quick purchase and then a queue for a coffee and a muffin.

Not A Month Goes Past Without A Visit To This Bord
Not a month goes past without a visit to this Borders "Book Superstore". Plenty of light and the store is generally very well stocked.
My tastes vary considerably in reading matter from Fantasy to Robert Ludlum, from Tom Clancy to Angling Magazines. All are well catered for here.
As to the coffee shop, on most occasions you will find the patrons reading books they have either just bought (or are thinking of buying) and the prices in the cafe are not too bad for a "Starbucks" franchise.
The prices of the books are generally at the full retail price (apart from their 3 for 2 type sales) and yes can be beaten by buying online................. BUT here at least if you don't like the look of the book after reading the first pages or chapter in the shop, then at least you won't have wasted your money.
I have found the staff to be in the main knowledgable about their product or if not like the man in the AA add on the television, know someone who is! Attentive without being in your way or under your feet, like in some stores.
Certainly recommended and a major competitor to the more numerous Waterstones etc.
