It is now November. The site is still shut down to new members and has been ever since the owner carried out a sudden and unexpected massacre of members in July.

Not a single word was said about this massacre and nothing has been said since. Members do not know if Kahuti will be sold or closed. Activity is still taking place by the few members interested in breathing life into the stagnant site, like a patient on life support.

It is pathetic to see activity descend from high and vigerous a few months ago to a trickle of irrelevant chatter.

This site is rubbish full of egotistical bullies and back stabbers.

Its closed for new members and would be better of closed for good.

Avoid like the plague.

Worst social media site ever

Been a member here since almost the beginning and run one of the most successful groups along with a few jokey others.

Plenty of minions and hangers on to boost your ego so worth it just for that.

Shame they are no longer taking new members as all a bit boring with the same old members, hopefully will improve once they reopen membership and we can get a few decent newbies posting and livening the site up.

plan Your Wedding is a great website that helped us in a really tough time. we had a great help from this company for booking of our catering and decorators. We got the services from the best vendors we wanted and they played their role very honestly. I would love to recommend the company to all, who are in search of better wedding services.

The developers are very responsive and are working hard to improve Kahuti in line with feedback from users. There is no requirement to enter a full name and Kahuti will accept pseudonyms and a general location, so the privacy concerns with Nextdoor do not arise and there is no pressure from the site.

There are no Community Leaders so any conversations are open and uncensored. Everyone has been respectful in my community, so it hasn’t been a problem. Areas viewed can be customised and easily changed between 1 and 25 miles and different areas can be viewed. Users are not bombarded with e-mails every time there is a post; there is the option of a daily summary (requested by users) and that’s it. Users are not constantly badgered by the site to recruit neighbours. Free business listings are encouraged as are recommendations for reliable tradesmen.

Kahuti is being developed rapidly and has the potential to be even better than Streetlife. It has been warmly received, but needs more active users although numbers are increasing daily and Kahuti communities are starting to spring up all over the country.

Kahuti appears to be the most suitable and popular of the replacements for Streetlife. The speed of development and response times show the founders are fully engaged with the site and they are now talking about mail shots to increase the number of users. This appears to be a serious site with the intention of remaining for the long term. I use Kahuti daily and look forward to it growing.

If you were on Streetlife and are looking for an alternative to Nextdoor, this looks like the best option. If not, it is still worth having a look.

When Streetlife UK closed down lots of alternative sites popped up and all fell well short of a decent replacement. Then Kahuti came along and rescued ex-Streetlifers with their great site. Easy to navigate and the developers respond quickly to pretty much all suggestions and ideas. As a result Kahuti is constantly evolving into what it's members are asking for. Top privacy (as opposed to other similar sites) which is very important and it's great as a platform for small local businesses! It does need more members for it to become even better but it seems to be steadily gaining new people in my area at least. I only wish they had come to the UK sooner.
