Good And Bad Experiences
OkCupid was brilliant a few years ago. So many people to talk to and went on some fantastic dates. However, it has gone down hill in the last year or so.
The new way they run the site has actually made things more difficult. I can't see all the messages people send to me, or all the profiles available. And it's supposed to be a free site.
Also, OkCupid is exactly what it says it is. A DATING SITE. It's hard to find a relationship on there. Most of the guys want to date for a while, but not commit.
The people I met were genuine and I had fun, but it's not the place to go if you're looking for something long term. For that I give it 3 out of 5.
Also, I've know people who got banned or deleted from the site for no reason. OkCupid doesn't respond to appeals they can't put their side of the story across, which I think is a bit unfair.
Not too bad

Fakery Is Now Common
OkCupid used to be a fairly decent site. But i have come to realize that now they stoop to complete fakery to try and keep you subscribing.
After paying a lot of money to see who had "liked" me, and finding that most of them were from supposed women way beyond the US, I changed my subscription to no automatic renewal so that i would not be charge again automatically. The next day I get an email saying that a younger woman close to where I live "likes" me. It was obvious from the writing of the "About Me" section on "her" page that this was most likely fake.
Then a few days later I get an email saying that a very young and very attractive woman has "liked" me. I click on her picture to see her profile and the message "Sorry, this profile is either private or doesn't exist". Gee, really? Who would have thought?
Yep, a truly fake site, There are real people on the site, including real women. But so far no one I am really interested in.
Don't waste your time and money.

Fakery
Ok Cupid - why not just bang your head against the wall - this will result in the same effect. Want to chat to men in Africa who cant meet you? Join this site. Want to speak to people who have copied others' pictures without their knowledge? Sign up to ok cupid today. Bored of your own company? Have your time wasted by these people (*I use the word "people " advisedly") who will claim one thing and do another. Are you not already bored bumping into completely unsuitable people with baggage? NO? - then this is for you - you will meet nothing but misfits with issues (both the men and the women). No-one can prove who they are and will take offence if you ask them to prove how real they are, suddenly realising you and they are "not a good match after all". Don't post a face pic - it will just be copied on to other sites run by match.com

Ok Cupid Is Owned By An American Corporation Which
Ok Cupid is owned by an American corporation which also owns Match.com - so beware.
It is littered with the profiles of many computer generated fake profiles and is essentially run to make money from ads on the site
if you do hear from anyone this will be the response
" do you have any more pics"
and that's about it. It promises one thing and delivers very little

Suffers From Lack Of People
Shame, because at the basic (i.e. free) level of membership, the website is actually useful in that you can do a basic search and also read and send messages. Your profile gives you plenty of opportunity to describe yourself and what you're looking for and any photos you upload appear instantly - instead of having to wait for them to be approved, the site relies on its members reporting inappropriate/offensive content which in my book is a good thing. The multi-choice questions are OK, although they could do with thinning out as some are utterly inane. The site gets bonus points for allowing you to pay for upgrades via PayPal (although in the end I never bothered) as I won't even consider using a dating site that won't let me pay via a third party company where I have full control over what payments go out. Finally, I was never bothered by spammers so it appears the site's owners have got that issue sorted out as well. The only problem I found was the lack of potential dates (and I'm not THAT choosy!) that were actively using the site, and as I included Nottingham and Sheffield in my searches we're not exactly talking about being out in the boondocks here. That said, your mileage may well vary from mine and because it's pretty nicely designed and fairly useful without laying any cash down, I can't say anything other than I suggest you at least give it a go.

If Only All Websites Were Designed Like This!
This is easily the best designed dating website out there, I should know, I've tried a few! Easy to use, uncluttered and kinda fun. They've got just about every feature that every other dating site has, but they do it so much better, prettier and there's clearly a lot of care into getting everything right.
There's plenty of space to write about yourself (other sites can be too restrictive), or some optional extra boxes if you need some pointers. There's some multiple choice questions that are fun to do (also optional) and you can even write little explanations next to your answers for extra comedy points.
You can hide people from your searches if you wish, block other members easily, bookmark your favourites or mark someone as 'liked'. There's no moderation on what photos you can upload (a good thing - other sites make you wait), but you can report others if they break the house rules. There's even optional upgrades if you want to browse 'invisibly' or if you only want to appear to certain members. The in-site emailing looks great, and you can even continue the chat it a popup window. Plus bags of cute little quirks and nice touches that I won't bloat this review with - just try it out!
The only downside is they seem to be quite under-advertised, so they could do with more numbers on the site - surprising as the other big players are so heavily advertised but (from personal experience) are utterly terrible.
You rock OKCupid!
Finally Deactivating My Husbands Inactive Account!!
My husband and i have been married almost 4 years ,he has not been active on this site in that long!! you sent him an email this week saying that you are FINALLY DEACTIVATING his old account!!
Ok cupid has no idea how much trouble they have caused in our relationship by refusing to delete this account when my husband and i have several times requested it to be taken down. we have gone through the deactivate and delete options yet it has not been taken down!!
thanks
Grooming Trap!
BEWARE! I spent around 6 hours in this site. I clicked that I liked one profile. It was an older man, the fluidity of his profile grabbed me. I set up mine very vaguely. I noticed the profiles were entertaining me but after around the teth profile they started getting very seedy. One openingly admitting to having "an interest in photography and as a matter of fact have done many in here. Sure enough the next two profiles to veiw me seemed to cheery puck abd second guess my likes dislikes etc. I would hazzard a guess one or three people are working with at least 20/25 profiles.
If this isnt just a case of boredom, its grooming and deeply disturbing.
Hardly Any Useful Features Left
This used to be a fairly good site, but they seem to be following a process of ruthlessly tracking down any remotely useful features, and removing them.
There is really no way left of finding out anything about a potential match, the site is now little more than a photo gallery.

Why can't I access the main navagation page to access moderate?
