Waste Of Potential
in the early 2000s, this site was great. it didn't have many games or features but it had a good community with a friendly atmosphere.. then... it got bought by Viacom and a slow decline followed. poor management, laggy clusters of ads, terrible customer service, little to no mobile capabilities, and a growing collection of broken and unfinished features caused its once large and thriving playerbase to leave in mass. It is best to avoid communicating with players since the forums are where most are likely to get iced or silenced. the chat is heavily censored (seriously dont talk about grapes and crackers! both those words would get their asinine word filter very angry at you) and so restrictive you're better off leaving it alone anyway. the site is not as bad as many here make it out to be however... it still has a nice collection of free games to play, stories to read, and several worlds to explore. Personally, I still find neo fun to goof around for an hour or two on a rainy day or dull Saturday ...just don't get too invested because if something goes wrong, you're not going to find much help. neo is so poorly maintained that it's just not worth putting serious effort into. it will take a really dedicated staff to get this soon-to-be 15 year old site to shine again. Recently, it has moved over to jumpstart: a company known for their educational pc games ... Many of the dwindling neo community have fond memories of jumpstart from years ago, so there is some hope things will change. but only time will tell for sure. still has a long LONG way to go if it wants to see any major success again.

I Wouldn't Even Give A Star If It Was Possible.
Ive been playing neopets off and on for around 3 years. Its not too fun when you have people going around posting your passwords on the boards, and nothing happening but you getting frozen for protection. When you get frozen, you have to submit a ticket to the support team which SUCK. 10+ months for a ticket reply for them to tell you, you don't have enough information, or its been to long to be able to help you with this.
Overall, the site is far from being good. They pull their information from users ideas, and can't even come up with their own.
Its a PAY TO PLAY game. If you don't pay, your not going to get special treatment from the staff. If you pay, you don't get frozen for scamming someone, or even doing something so wrong. All they want is the money and don't even care about the players. I can't name a single day in the news, where they haven't mentioned NC items, or even Premium.
Don't start playing this game. Many are leaving.

Poor Customer Service
Sad to say I spent 4+ years playing this. However, I had one misunderstanding and they froze my account.
I was doing a price check on a item, and there was no help. Tried their acceptable help website, no help there either...
Used google as a last resort and found a price.
I typed in (name only, not website, address etc) that had this price, and if it was correct? and if I could get an accurate price for the item?
I was then frozen. No warning/suspension.
I felt like the 4 years I worked hard for what I had, disappeared all for a power trip.
All that was needed was a warning or suspension and a explanation of the exact problem.
I decided to take the $50 a month I spent in NC and premium service and look elsewhere for another game.
I loved the game but not the people who ran it.
I only recommend to perfect people :) Oh and people who can read there minds on the unwritten rules they have.

It Used To Be Better.
Due to site and staff changes, the entire website has lost its luster. Players literally have to tip toe in order to prevent breaking some ridiculous rule or to avoid being blamed for something they haven't done in the first place. The games have improved, but due to their poor customer support and staff, they are riddled with problems and glitches, and the best games lag so much they can be nearly unplayable. Even with good internet service. If you have a problem, chances are, you won't even be able to open a ticket, and when you FINALLY do, for some topics, it can take 3+months to hear anything back. Often, responses are automated or short and curt. Do not waste your money. Do not waste your time. Play for a site that values you as a player, as a paying customer, and as a human being.

Too Addicting For A Site Who
doesn't care about their customers/players. If you get frozen or accused of something then TNT will not be there to help. If you think about it, everything you worked really hard for can be frozen in an instant and you have nothing to show for it. The rules seem too strict for a site that's supposed to be fun. People who go by it honestly seem to get frozen while the people who actually take pets and get reported go free. Plus, a lot of players are arrogant and get report happy. Neo used to be so fun, but, now it's infested with a bunch of know it alls.
Never Respond
The game is fun. Unfortunately I have had trouble logging in for 3 weeks now to my daughter's account and cannot get assistance. I have created tickets as instructed to on their site but they have not returned my emails or tried to help in anyway. She has had her account since 2008 and have referred to the game but they dont care to help their members with a simple log in request. My daughter is sad she cannot get on to see her pets and doesnt want to create a new account and new pets. Still waiting

Be Forewarned
Honestly, I grew up playing Neopets, and I had fond memories of the website. There is a lot of fun to have earning virtual money, playing games, battle neopets, etc. What I don't like about the website is that it is extremely easy to have your account frozen for no good reason. This happened to me twice, this first time because of a game glitch (not intentional on my part), and I emailed the a moderator and was lucky enough to be unfrozen. The second time was for no reason, and when I tried to login it said my account was frozen and the reason was confidential. I had not broken any rules, and I had invested a good amount of time into that account so I emailed the moderator again this time receiving no response. There is not much I could do because the accounts are property of Neopets, but I was a bit frustrated by the end and for this reason, will never invest any more time into this website. So play at your own risk, and be ready to lose everything one day for no reason!

Absoulty Terriable Customer Service. If You Don't
Absoulty terriable customer service. If you don't access your account for awile then you are asked to put your birthday in. Well I'm sorry but I'm not putting my real birthday in so I don't know what I put in as my birthday and I can't access my account without it. After contacting them several times about the situation they refused to help me saying there was no solution to my promble. This people are mean, thoughtless and I will never use neopets again.

Neopets Is Fun While You're Playing It, But Don't
Neopets is fun while you're playing it, but don't invest too much personal effort and time into it. They have an earned reputation of unfairly freezing accounts and not allowing the users to legitimately contest the freezing. Sure, there's a form you can fill out, but typically the best you'll get is an automated response that says you can't have your account back. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
This happened to me. They did not even give me a reason, saying it was "confidential." I'm never going to recommend this website to anyone.

Neopets Is Full Of Things Like Cookie Grabers. The
Neopets is full of things like cookie grabers. They allow the use of custom scripts and code this has allowed some people to use scripts to get computer cookies and account info. This may not seem so bad untill you think about every page and code you have use without cookie cleaning before going to neopets. You could stand to have your email, bank, ebay, paypal, etc passwords taken and used. The BBB has thousands of reviews about neopets please read them before you allow your children to use the site. And the thing that would worry me most as a parent is that neopets seems to blame the user if they happen into one of these scripts "you shouls have been more careful" ask yourself how old do you have to be to view and spot a bad script in HTML, CSS, and java code? And these scripts can be hidden as items in shops pet lookups etc.
