The Worst
I had the AKC insurance for my pups for a couple years. Then it came time to utilize the plan for illness. We had the Wellness Plan, for dental cleaning and annual shots it was OK for reimbursement after the deductible. The customer service was pretty weak and the claim processing was disorganized at best. They would misplace the claims repeatedly. Then I needed to use the "illness" portion for one of my beloved pets — it was terrible — the entire AKC company from the employee who answers the phone, to the claim processor, to the actual “quality” of the policy. Much to my heartbreak the doctors could not save my precious boy. The AKC even denied euthanasia. Here I thought I had diagonostics, hospitalization, illness. The AKC has many areas that allow them not to pay the claims, they don’t cover arthritis, diabeties, heriditiary, genetic conditions. They have annual maximums and per incident maximum as well. I have cancelled with them and now with a reputable provider who does cover all of what I indicated the AKC does not for LESS money then I paid with the AKC Wellness Plan. From my experience I would never recommend the AKC insurance. For me the AKC coverage was a huge mistake. In the end when you need the insurance — clearly the AKC is not there as my experience was and I incurred thousands of dollars of expense not to mention the enourmous premium I paid to the AKC. Read all the fine print inclusive for the many exclusion. Many providers do not have the limitations the AKC does and anyone has to have better customer service and organization then they did. I am now with a wonderful provider who -- so good insurance is available -- you just need to read the fine print.

The insurance they offer is beyond HORRIBLE! I purchased it because of the AKC affiliation.
Well here is the latest which is insult to injury!
Can you believe I have the AKC Wellness Plan and sadly I lost my sweet boy -- The AKC DENIED the Euthanasia. They have denied many, many things to the tune of $8,000. It was medically necessary much to my heart break. My sweet boy was only 8 years old. b The Wellness plan is to cover such events. I ask do you want to deal with this type of insurance company that states they cover things that they don't including Euthanasia. Do you need this hassle after such a horrific loss of you beloved pet. They are the ABSOLUTE MOST HORRIBLE INSURANCE OUT! Think 1,000 before engaging in insurance with the AKC. Don't buy into "AKC" when you see the insurance as I had done. I had MULTIPLE policies with them. They have a LOOP HOLE!
Look for insurance that does NOT have a per incident CLAUSE that AKC does. This allows them to throw everything into one incident and it is not the case - but it is the AKC loop hole and what they did to me. LOOK FOR AN ANNUAL MAXIMUM withOUT a per incident. Something the AKC DOES NOT OFFER -- if they did maybe they would have to pay the claims then.
Consumer BEWARE of the AKC PetPartners Insurance - they make you believe you have comprehensive coverage for your beloved pet and YOU DO NOT based off my experience which I have turned over the State Insurance Review Board!

Nice website however the AKC never return email enquiries either directly or via Twitter, which was dissapointing.
After years of coverage and multiple policies for our 4 pups with the AKC Pet Partners Insurance the time came for me to have utilized it for our adored pup. He was sick - no question about that. I had insurance - or so I thought. Our sweet boy was hospitalized, required an MRI of the brain which indicated some sort of a lesion, then developed nephritis, later he came down with aspiration pneumonia and also had an emergency hospital visit as well. It ended much to my heart break with the loss of this sweet boy when I was told that it was medically necessary to euthanize him. I had thought I had credible coverage through the AKC Pet Insurance. WRONG! One the Wellness Plan (most enriched plan and very expensive) through the AKC they AKC denied medications, MRI, further diagnostics, medical treatment and hospitalizations INCLUSIVE of euthanasia.
So consumers BEWARE of such an organization. These were unrelated situations that they denied.
I had registered our pups with the AKC when they made the offer of this insurance upon AKC registration of our puppy years back - how could I go wrong with the AKC? In EVERYWAY!! In addition recently, they have denied testing on our other pup for a simple test of giarda on the Wellness Plans which are the most enriched plan (allegedly) through the AKC - they denied that too.
I have dropped the insurance with this deplorable coverage offered through the AKC. I now have them insured with an honorable insurance provider that does not have the gimmicks the AKC Pet Insurance has to get out of paying claims.

I am now with Embrace and could not be happier with the customer service, the helpfulness, expertise and wisdom the representatives have. Embrace demonstrated timeliness with information, all something that I never ever received from the AKC Pet Insurance. Embrace offered a medical review process so you know UP FRONT what is exactly what. I may have a pre-existing condition for a pup, but that by far out weighs the knowledge of knowing what a reputable company I am now with. I hope none of my pups get as sick as my sweet boy did - but now knowing that they are TRULY insured with an outstanding insurance provider I sleep better. You can tell in just speaking with Embrace they truly staff animal lovers!
Who wants to be with a company that when you are at your wits end with the loss of your pet, they even deny euthanasia as a final slap in your face?

I purchased THE AKC insurance for our puppy. The Wellness Plus Plan inclusive of spay and neuter. With the name AKC being associated with it, I thought how could I go wrong? I went way off the beaten path by patronizing the AKC Pet Partners Insurance and falling for the AKC backing!
Chloe needed a simple diagnostic test -- under $100.00 for giarda. I had satisfied my deductible -- the AKC denied the claim. I have other policies with them; it seems to be the AKC way. They even denied euthanasia for my Sweet Boy after hospitalization and being told it was medically necessary.
Who needs insurance like this? Clearly based off my experiences with the AKC -- you have absolutely NOTHING if you have them as your insurance provider.
I would NEVER recommend them to anyone and have since taken my insurance needs elsewhere and am so HAPPY that I did. The new provider does not have the AKC gimmicks and loop holes -- even pay claims and have true animal lovers helping you and answering your questions.
I repeatedly received deplorable customer service from the AKC experienced tons of disorganization with lost claims and faxes. AKC claimed to have never been received -- yet I have the proof they were.
Please check out other options or self fund -- you would be wiser to do that then get involved with this insurance based off my experiences.

Oh believe me -- BE CAREFUL -- you have a lot to be disappointed in if you ever really need to utilize this insurance.
The only one that the AKC Petpartners Insurance partners with is with THEMSELVES! This company has denied my family 1, 000′s of dollars in UNPAID claim inclusive of eusthanasia. I am shopping other insurance after experiencing how deplorable the customer service is, the lost claims they forever seem to misplace and the wrongful denial to claims INCLUSIVE OF EUTHANASIA when we were told it was medically necessary. I had the wellness plan - pretty comprehensive and they only pay PEANUT things - when it comes to the "true reason we have insurance" forget about the AKC since you have NOTHING at all if you are with the AKC Petpartners Insurance per our experience. You need to look for providers WITHOUT the NEVER ENDING clauses the AKC has. OTHERWISE - SELF FUND YOUR OWN POLICY. To have an AKC Policy - USELESS and HEART WRENCHING! Be certain to read the AKC catch all loop hole - PER INCIDENT, they consider EVERYTHING the same incident even when their own EOB's indicate different diagnosis. Many OTHER insurance providers have an annual maximum WITHOUT the AKC Loop Hole which they incorrectly throw everything into and then DON'T PAY as they represent they will. STAY AWAY from the AKC for fear your experience will be as mine!
