Used Irish Ferries To Cross From Pembroke To Rossl
Used Irish Ferries to cross from Pembroke to Rosslare, didn't hear the instruction given, just followed the car in front the ferry was modern and
quite grand for just a 4 hour crossing.
Stayed the first night at the Maldron Hotel, Wexford which was excellent value with friendly staff, reasonably priced meals and full use of their gym, swimming pool sauna etc.
Drove up to Dublin by car, navigation was relatively easy no real problems. Most non dual carriageway roads have a spare sort of left handed lane but its use is not clear. There are signs near the port telling you to use it but this could be dangerous as it was often used by walkers and joggers and can suddenly end. So I only used it, if it was obvious someone was getting impatient to overtake.
The hotel we stayed in at Dublin was the Regency Hotel nothing like as welcoming as the Maldron Hotel with threats of wheel clamping if you left your car unattended so I stayed in the car whilst my wife booked in. Had problems here, the room was to a poor standard of decor and there were extra charges for parking and using the leisure facilities, non of which we forwarned about.
Used the buses to tour Dublin which were fine, the Hop On - Hop Off buses were good sources of information and at 16 Euros reasonably priced. Did the usual tourists things and there was good atmosphere about the place especially in Gravity Room of the Guiness Factory (excellent views of Dublin). Apparently and Jameson tour was better but drinking whiskey during the day does not appeal to me. Historicall places, the university library and Museums were usually free.
Spent the rest of our stay at a country retreat called the Temple Country Retreat and Spa and had a full body massage trwatment etc. This place did its main function i.e. de stressing well but mainly due to the poor exchange rate was tad expensive and could do with a pool.
Travelled back to Rosslare via several places of interest got to Rosslare Ferry Port and was in a que of about six. Thought this would mean I could get off at Pembroke early but no. It has to be said that Irish Ferries operate a blatantly anti British policy, all cars with British number plates were seperated from the rest and made to leave the ferry last which meant we were stuck behind lorries for the forst 40 miles of our journey. Did not follow instruction given by accident travelling over best not to.
