Hotel Assist left myself and my family (including 2 children) stuck in London, in the snow on 19th Dec 2010.

I booked a night at the Bayswater Inn, on 6th Dec, received a confirmation of the booking by e-mail, no deposit required, payment taken on arrival.

Arriving on 19th, we were told (in very difficult to understand 'english') that the booking had been refused and we should take it up with the booking agent. No room reserved, just a 'sorry'. The hotel couldn't care less that we had young children.

Having almost 2 weeks between the 6th and the 19th to notify us by phone, mobile, or e-mail of this situation, Hotel Assist failed miserably.

Beware of companies that do not take deposits or full payment upfront. And don't put 100% faith in e-mail confirmations.

Caveat Emptor.

There are so many hotel reservation companies out there. Can be a bit of a nightmare, especially when you want something other than straightforward single or double rooms.

While searching for a reasonably priced family room in London, I came across this superb site .. Hotel Assist.

Very easy to use and I was amazed at the great deals available, even in central London. If you're looking for a family room which does NOT mean packing in extra beds in an already cramped room have a look at this website ....well worth checking it out.
