Yes, they will say no long term contracts, you will see an impressive proposal, telling you that they will provide results, but do not be fooled.

1. PPC - they spent more than one month on a full account restructure. After 3 weeks we were making a loss from PPC. Don’t forget about the whooping 15% of spent commission. They thought we will just wait for them to take 3 or more months to optimize the account in order to improve the ROI. Using excuses such as, we put more than £10000 worth of man hours into the built of the PPC Account??? So after apparently £10000 worth of man hours, you have built an account that is making a loss? And we were being made to look like we are inpatient and not grateful for the amount of work they have done.

It is clear that they don’t have an interest in making sure the account is profitable, they just want you to spend as much as possible so they invoice us more and more.

2. SEO – we told them our site has been affected by the Penguin. Their head of SEO or some sort of head told us, “Do not worry about that”, just “do not worry about that”

So whilst every other decent agency we have spoken with (yes, after Lakestar McCann) told us that the penalty should be dealt with first as a matter of priority, Lakestar McCann says “do not worry about it”

Month 1 was spent on site optimization.

Month 2 of SEO: we were waiting to see some work being done, eventually we asked for an update only to be told that month 2 of SEO has been done and we are already in month 3. When we asked for some proof of work their Director of Client Services says, ohh, no, actually month 2 is not finalized. Yes, by this time ring bells were ringing. If fact they started ringing since we started making a loss from PPC.

Overall, they are a very sales led agency. Yes, if you are large business with large marketing budgets they may be suitable. But if you are a smaller business, I would STRONLGY advice, look elsewhere. Lakestar McCann has a very snobbish attitude. They will make you think they are gods in search marketing but do not be fooled as they are very misleading.

Now, they are making legal threats as we cannot afford to pay our bills.

So, DO NOT USE Lakestar McCann.
