The application itself is fairly easy to use. All your searches are tabbed at the top, and you can see who is sharing to and from your machine. If a track or album can not be found at the time, you can add it to a wish list that will passively search in the background while the program is running.

Soulseek gives you full control of your sharing, allowing you to choose what folders to share, what files to disallow and whether to give priority to people in your buddy list.

Unfortunately, the biggest drawback of the software is the fact it directly connects you to whoever has the file, meaning you are severely limited by the speed of their upload. It is simple to adjust how many people can download from you and you can download from, meaning if you need the bandwidth for other things, turning things down is easy using the options on the right of the window.
