I joined William Hill a couple of weeks ago, submitted all of my ID and had my account fully verified. I then placed a total of four bets on different horse races over Aintree weekend all for about £20-£25 each. Upon trying to log in to my account yesterday I receive a message saying my account is locked. I proceeded to contact William Hill only to be told that the management have made a trading decision to close my account and confiscate the £236 balance.

No further explanation was offered other than stating that it is within their terms and conditions to do this at any time if they suspect fraud or discover duplicate accounts. I have never had an account before so it means they are basically accusing me of crime and using this as an excuse to take my funds.

I am currently taking legal advice and will be pursuing this purely as a matter of principle. I see from other review sites that there are many in the same boat as me so it would seem as though it is some sort of scheme that William Hill are running.

In my 3yrs experience with William hill, I would say its a glossy interface and nothing else, payout on card games is 70% at best, it just feels fake, I try ,to close my account but there are so many hoops to jump through, on many occasions I went though money so fast i could'nt flush the toilet quicker. that said poker is half decent, had a couple of issues regarding payout one time it was resolved quickly and also there was a fault in slots their fault minus £15 me, all in t & Cs guys

Opened an account deposited £35 then they did an age check on me and kept my money and said I would not get it back so what ever you do don't open an account with William hill the biggest mistake you will ever. Make and customer service is a joke arrogant people on phone.

I joined and in the first week I won a couple of hundred pounds betting on football, all good I got the money. However they wouldnt pay the other £325 I won the same week, two weeks on still no pay out. They go through a security process, wanting pictures of your bank card etc.

Anyway bet365 is far better, better odds and far greater variety.

The functionality of the website is great, as are the better markets and customer services (live chat are excellent)

Apparently they can do this whenever they like. It is in their Terms and Conditions.

When I asked for a refund they offered to process as a gesture of goodwill. Oh, wow, thanks a lot.

Terms and Conditions state that every attempt will be made to notify the customer. They made no attempt at all. New odds were practically worthless, certainly not worth the risk, yet had I not logged in to make another bet I would have been none the wiser.

They now wont let me cancel my outstanding bets and close my account. Who knows what odds I will end up with for my other bets, but nothing I can do.

Will NEVER use William Hill again. I suggest no one else does either. What a ridiculous situation where a bookey can change the odds after the bet has been placed.
