“NOT PLUMBING FRIENDLY”

★★★☆☆

written by BraelynMcClure244 on 15/10/2019

This washing machine has a quick closing valve which creates "water hammer". It will really test your plumbing. My plumbing pipework really thumps and shakes. I've tried two different water hammer arresting devices, they haven't helped at all. on the final rinse of a few programs this valve operates about twenty times, each time jolting the pipework. A technician, sent by samsung, said that it is normal for the valve to operate so many times. I would actively deter a friend from buying a samsung washing machine because of this. i had an aeg washing machine before this and it was not normal on that machine. an extra complaint is that the feet of the samsung machine are made of a rubber like material which make it hard to slide the machine in and out of a recess. I think the back feet should be made of different material.

Water hammer is usually associated with air in the system, vent it at highest point, or too high a pressure, try turning the co-ck stop down until you just have the right flow for your sink cold taps. As for the feet they do sink in to soft flooring. Try putting the machine on to a piece of old carpet, tufts down, so it can act as a sled, try and pull the carpet rather than the machine. Any type of slippery but strong sled will do where the feet can grip it. I have mine on signage plastic with holes in the front where I can tie cord onto the front corners.
