“Great machine but a bad design fault”

Great machine, washes well - large drum...but when you have to clean the filter the design makes it almost impossible to catch the water that comes out. The filter flap is very low down and in previous models I have seen (when I downloaded the manual)the flap pops off- which is a reasonable idea..... But in the model I have - which I assume is the latest model - the flap is hinged -so it is impossible to get any container under the filter outlet.
