Nikon F90x / N90s

I use a couple of F90X bodies, usually loaded with 100/400 ISO film. I carry at least one F90X along with a Nikon D90 digital. The F90X is a superb tool and when fitted with the MF-26 multi function back the camera will reward you with the ability to handle most photographic situations. Autofocus is easily quick enough for action shots and focus tracking works well. Controls are laid out in a useful manner, with the exception of the AE/AF lock slider that even today Nikon insist on placing right against your nose, making it difficult to hold the shutter button and lock exposure simultaneously (although other options are available). The meter renders well exposed images and TTL flash is usually spot on. The body takes a range older lenses and new AFS, but VR is available. I really enjoy using this camera and current prices are ridiculously low for such a fine piece of Nikon tech.

I own and use an F4 also but the F90X used much more frequently. If you are looking for a well built film camera I would certainly recommend this one.

Best bang for buck in film cameras.

I owned a Nikon F90X for about 8 years. I have used this camera for a wedding photography several times as a pro and it did a fantastic job. I am using it with Nikon sb28 speedlight, which is one of the best flashes I have ever owned, very reliable.

If you are looking for a light build camera, this is not one of them. Nikon F90x body is on the heavy side, but I like heavier cameras. The shutter is loud, so it can be disturbing in certain situations-like the weddings, but that's the way this camera is. Very reliable, solid, perfect metering in single or continuos shutter mode. I have tkaen thousands of photographs and the maintenace was just cleaning, nothing ever broke. It's servo motors can handle big zoom lenses like Sigma APO 500 with no problems. I took it with me to F1 racing in Toronto as well as to Woodbine Horse track and this camera never missed of miss-focused a shot. It has the advanced options like macro, HF or landscape, but I don't use them too often. Shutter speed ranges up to 1/8000 s, which is almost unusable, but there are situations you could used them altough not very often-like the F1 racing.

Overall, very reliable, worth the money bottom line pro camera.

I love the feel, weight and sound of this camera. Sound means alot to me. I realise that sound has no bearing on how wonderful a photo can be, but it does provide a comfortable feeling to hear the shutter click as it does. I think that the N90s to me is like an older car that does not do what this years models can do, but it sure is alot of fun driving it around. I can access all of the features of the N90s, simply and intuitively. I have owned the N90s for about 2 years and it has never let me down. I have an N70 an F5, FM3a and a Nikkormat Ft3 and the N90s is the most reasonable choice to take on a photo shoot. The MF26 is an outdated necessary device that is dificult to use unless you use it alot and remember how to set everything. If you use it only once in awhile, you will become frustrated. Once you become used to any camera and you start seeing nice photos that you made with that camera, you will love that camera, no matter what anyone says in any review.

The Nikon N90S is a great camera. State of the art metering. Faster & accurate auto-focus.Superb build.This is all time great Nikon.I own F-5, F100, F4S & N90S. F-5 has 3D color matrix metering & N90S has 8 segment matrix metering, both are great metering but some situations N90S gives more acceptable results than F-5. In backlit scene if your subject is too small then you need to use compensation or flash. This strategy is same with the F-5.

. N90S is enough rugged for professional punishment or for use any climate.

If you are looking for excellent camera then N90S is the answer.

. I found N90S is most sophisticated performer in F series & N series.

NEGATIVE POINTS-You must own multi control back for full use of this camera.

No VR function compatibility.

I have bad experience with image centering in the view finder. At times, auto DX coding does not work. Obviously this camera is not built for Close up work.

Well, what can I say, excellent camera, reliable, fast, sophisticated, with lots of features and a vast array of accessories. Of course will be your talent and the lenses who will make the big difference in the quality of your pics, but a good camera body like this is always recommended!

It gives its best with the MB-10 grip and the MF-26 back, otherwise there will be few differencies with a much cheaper F-801s. Anyway, I am really satisfied, and you will be too if you buy it!

I bought this camera about two years ago and used it with a Nikon N90 and N8008s. I recently bought an F5 so the N90s is a backup. I have traveled several times to Europe and to National parks, dropped it once onto concrete with no damage (verified by Nikon service), have had it in dust, rain and snow and it just keeps working. I do not know what Nikon's plan is for the N90s now that the N80 is coming out but it is a bargain, a quality product and I really have enjoyed owning and using it.

I really love this camera. It was my first venture into AF and the transition was painless. The matrix metering has spoiled me, but it also has spot and center-weighted as well. Used with an SB-26 Speedlight fill-flash is spot on! I use it w/ the MB-10 battery pack and it's still not that heavy. Prices are coming down almost daily, so the N90s or F90x is one of the best buys out there!

This is one of the best camera in Nikon line. Price/performance is great.
