We Could Not Have Escaped From Bedroom In Event Of

We could not have escaped from bedroom in event of fire. Very steep hill or lots of steps the only ways down to the beach. Pavements in the area are very dangerous with lots of holes and plenty of dog muck.

Casa Palmeras - Just Got Back After 3 Weeks. Place

Casa Palmeras - just got back after 3 weeks. Place owned by Ann and Keith (Casapalmeras.co.uk) who couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Spoke to them a number of times on the 'phone asking for tips etc and they were patient and very informative. Place was spotless and exactly as the website said it would be. Will book again for an Easter break next year and can't wait to go back.

We Stayed At Casa Palmeras No. 111 (which You Can

We stayed at Casa Palmeras No. 111 (which you can see at www.casapalmeras.co.uk). It really is an excellent location. One of the good things about this particular apartment is that it has a washing machine and dishwasher and it offers special prices for families. We were about 2/3 minutes to the beach.

We Stayed In Apartment 408 At The Colony Club - It

We stayed in apartment 408 at the Colony Club - it was a lovely apartment. Everything was exactly as promised, clean and spacious, modern apartment.

The owners Nikki and Kev are fabulous as is Phil who lives above and ferries you about for a nominal fee.

The pool area is really nice, never gets crowded and benefits from full day sunshine.

Some local people live at the colony club and this gives it a homely feel.

There are plenty of supermarkets nearby, pubs clubs and entertainment is a 2 minute walk down a hill or steps.

We can highly recommend this complex!!

Stayed at the Colony Club in Lanzarote for 2 weeks. It's not bad. Would be unable to get out of the bedroom if there was a fire. Pool was OK, but very quiet. Very steep hills or lots of steps to get to the front. Slightly run down feel about the apartments, but as long as the sun is shining they're fine.

I Have Just Returned From A Holiday At The Colony

I have just returned from a holiday at the Colony Club in Puerto del Carmen on Lanzarote. I stayed two nights in the Colony Club before moving to a new apartment.

Some of the problems.

1. Lights hanging off the wall.

2. Major cracks in the glass floor of the balcony.

3. The insides of the light fittings were filthy.

4. Cigarette burns and stains on the bed linen

5. The pool area is a mess, the sun loungers (contrary to the pictures to be found on the web) are old and many were broken.

6. The cooker controls were obliterated, turning on a ring was a matter of trial and error.

The general appearance of the place was one of neglect.

It is also my belief apartments are a fire trap. The bedrooms which are on the lower floor have no windows or alternative means of escape if the stairs are blocked.

I agree with original comment regarding the Colony Club in Lanzarote. It's livable, but expensive for what you get.

As the writer of the original review, I should clarify a couple of things for Paula (and others).

Firstly, I didn't and still don't claim to be an expert. This review 'decided' I was an 'expert' I don't know how it arrived at that decision.

Secondly, I realise that the apartments are privatley owned and almost certainly vary in quality. I only commented on the apartment that I was in (it wasn't 117). I stand by my comments. The holiday company that I was with agreed with me and moved me to another complex.

Thirdly, The pool area was a mess, it may have changed I don't know. Again, the holiday company agreed with me.

Fourthly, The comment about my own house is irrelevant and childish. I do not advertise my house for rent for holiday accomodation or any other purpose so has no bearing on this review.

Oh dear! Just thinking about booking a two week holiday at Colony Club, Puerto del Carmen, in June 2004. Very put off by above comments. Understand owner's point of view but when booking with an agent impossible to tell what you're going to end up with - not worth the risk. Maybe the owner can supply (current) pictures of the pool etc. to change our minds.

As the present owner of 117 colony club I must thank Mr Gibbons for his remarks!

With regards to the experts(what qualifications?)remarks.

I belive your so called expert after a whole 2 days of staying on the complex should have taken the bother, before commenting, of investigating and he would have realized that these are privatly owned apartments and vary greatly in overall condition. Perhaphs we should have the oportunity of visiting his home to make our comments!
