OldWomble's review of John Lewis JLDV09 Tumble Dryer

“Are John Lewis Tumble Dryers any good?”

written by OldWomble on 02/02/2015

In 2011 we purchased a JLDV09 tumble dryer from them and fortunately it had the John Lewis extended warranty because it was so much trouble that they ended up replacing it within 2 years. We then opted to pay more for the JLTDH17 Condenser dryer. What a mistake. 18 months later and that had to be repaired (new PCB) and now its gone wrong again. This time we are told it has to have a complete new base assembly as the engineers are not allowed to re-gas the heat exchanger.

Added to all this, our John Lewis washing machine also went wrong after just 18 months and took over 3 ½ weeks to repair.

These machines have been a complete waste of money and even one of the (several) engineers said, “you are better off buying the cheapest machine you can get and then dump it when it goes wrong as they are all the same”

The only saving grace is the fact that we purchased from John Lewis who’s customer service is so much better than anyone else.

As a company, I cannot fault John Lewis but, I would never buy anything that is their own brand again.
