pop36's review of Leger Holidays

“Little Trains of the Spectacular Austrain Tyrol on...”

My husband and I have just returned from a nine day holiday. We chose the Luxuria coach for the added comfort and were so glad that we did. Our two drivers were very good and there was plenty of information given along the way. We were kept well hydrated with a good drink selection. It was much cheaper to buy a coffee on the coach than in the various service stations on the way. There was a toilet on board along with individual entertainment screens but unfortunately no wifi.
This is a sightseeing tour and not a relaxing holiday. It is a way of seeing the wonderful scenery in Austria. From this point of view we would rate it as excellent. We would have liked to know the length of travelling times and the average times of departure on the excursions.
This holiday cost was £2000 with an additional cost of £318 for our chosen trips. We could have ended up spending more had we been on the horse and carriage rides and more cable car rides. Having said that all of the trips on the different railways were outstanding and we thoroughly enjoyed the steam, electric, rack and pinion and cog journeys. Cable car rides are spectacular and offer incredible views. Out of the nine days we had 4 days of travelling to and from Austria with two overnight stays in a Best Western Hotel in Brussels. Those travel days were an average of twelve hours per day on the coach. There were plenty of comfort stops. It was always an early start from the hotel.
The Sonnschein Hotel Niederau is the base hotel for the other 6 nights. Very comfortable although a little tired. Friendly staff but the food is poor. We would recommend taking tea and coffee and long life milk as they charge for that although there is a kettle and mugs in the room. We also recommend taking a non slip bath mat as the baths in both hotels are somewhat slippery and there are over bath showers. We would go on another holiday with Leger but only if the distance was much shorter. They organised the travelling very well and we are glad we have seen all that we wanted to see in Austria.
