Family Getaway

This is really a good chalet. The view is perfect for a family getaway. They should post this on ECrent.com, the largest global rental platform. You can have an account "France", then you can upload your hotel for free.

We've Had Great Times On The 3 Weeks Skiing We've

We've had great times on the 3 weeks skiing we've had there; If we want a change we drive around to la Clusaz.

we stayed with www.bornandgrand.com by the Outalays piste- it was great!

Private lessons are best, particularly in peak weeks.

Le Bournerie is a lovely restaurant with great food if you want to spoil yourself, it's just hard on your legs getting up to the place.

We used the ESF group classes. The level of English was very good. My daughter did have her cousin in the same group for company. She came back from the 2 1/2hr lessons very tired, but she always wanted to ski after lunch. She really loved to ski. I watched the group from the slopes, and I had no complaints regarding the care and attention the children received.

This year, with local lift pass and lessons, the cost is E140, all book-able on the net. We also booked our lift passes online. It also allows you to attach your photo's. The kids lift and lessons tickets are sent via post to your home address. Ours are collected are the tourist centre in Le Grand Bornand.

We ate lunch on the slopes. Evening meals were taken in the village or up at Chinallion, where we found the restaurants reasonably priced for ski resorts. The local supermarkets are OK. There is a large supermarket outside the village, which we did not use, but we could get everything we required from the local shops. There is a nice restaurant on the main road into the upper area of Chinallion, but I can't remember the name, sorry. All the restaurants we used were of a good standard. No problems. The whole resort is very child friendly.

Thanks for the response. A couple more questions:

ESF - did you book private lessons or did your daughter join a "public" class? How was the instructors English language? Did your daughter enjoy the lessons and like the instructor? Mine is 6, and she can be a bit shy/nervous, especially if she does not "like or get-on" with someone. Cost?

Did you eat out in the village/on the slopes at all? If so, how were they in terms of child-friendliness, and/or would you recommend any?

And lastly, local shops - in terms of general groceries - can you get everything you would normally expect in the village, or do you need to travel further afield?

Thanks

I have in the last two years booked a private chalet just outside Chinallion, where we tended to ski.

Esf ski school at Chinallion was excellent. My daughter, who last year was four, was skiing blues and greens by Thursday.

We tended to stay local, and have not really visited La Clusaz, but there is plenty of skiing in the area.

Last year we had fantastic snow. This year the snow conditions at present are poor on the lower slopes, but there is still time!!

If you require more detailed information please contact with questions.

I'm taking the wife and 2 young children to Le Grand Bornand. Any thoughts or recommendations?
