Horrible

Probablynthe worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Very shabby and dirty. Soiled ban aid on the bedroom floor and a demonstration outside the hotel about their bed bug problems,

Well Did My 4th Trip To New York In August This Ye

Well did my 4th trip to New York In August this year and although the Central Park Hotel is all it's cracked up to be try doing it on your own.

I was their working at a trade show and spent most nights on my own.

Let me tell you New York is not the place for a single female !

I was followed by various people asking if I wanted to take them out for a good time.

Then stopped dead in my tracks by a huge man asking if I would marry him. I Smiled and walked away I was scared he would crush me.

When you go into a restaurant for something to eat on your own they say is it just you! as if it's a bad thing to be on your own. Then they rush you so that they can make room for the table of 4 who will spend more.

Everyone has their hand out for a tip I found myself rushing to open doors myself so that I would not have to line yet another palm with $2.

The taxi drivers constantly peep their horns I asked one of them why and he said everyone does it. When I pointed out that he would not get there any faster he just grunted at me and said well I suppose you English are used to a quieter lifestyle.

I corrected him and said I'm not English I'm Scottish and we have busy roads too but if you peeped your horn that much in Scotland someone would get out and headbutt you.

He seemed surprised at this! (you have to hear this to understand just how much they peep their horn) they have signs up in some streets saying no horns during certain hours.

Well at least the shopping makes up for it gawd a woman could go bankrupt in a day ! Just as well I was skint when I went there it just lead to drooling outside shop windows.

Some further info after I have been asked for more info new to this so just finding my feet. :-)

The best hotel I've stayed in so far is the Chambers just off fith avenue lovely hotel with an oriental feel to it . Stunning artwork placed in every room staff are helpfull and you get fresh bottled water every day and a wee sweetie on your pillow every night.

Not the cheapest option though.

And a must to visit is Wendys for your breakfast or lunch I got the Jack Nickolson amazing size how do they eat it all. Your choice of egg, fried cubed potatoes, crispy bacon. with a side plate of the biggest pancakes you have ever seen. free topups of coffee and syrup to rot your teeth. Great value for money.

Best new clubbing venue is a place called "Bed" and as it's name says there are very few seats it's made up of beds. which leads to people having all kinds of fun. (small note I was sober was working the next day) cocktails were rather expensive though. There were two levels an inside level with lots of booths with beds in them and a rooftop level with canopies and more beds you could smoke in this area. When I got to the door my friends inside told me to say I was on the unknown list and they let me in strange going up in an elevator to a club. This place is not for the faint hearted.

A good place to get over any hangovers is Cenral Park unfortunately they were doing some construction workwhile I was there but it's nice to go and watch the baseball players in action or just sit on one of the big rocks with a good book.

Just don't disturb any of the bundles of rags lying on the ground as it is more than likely a hobo having a sleep.

Travel Tips:

From the airport I have tried a few different travel methods Taxi which runs at about $40 to $45 depending on time of day Only take the proper licensed cabs though they are much safer.

The shuttle bus is great it's only $22 for a return they pick you up take you to Penn Staion then you get a smaller bus straight to your hotel and when your due to return you call them the day before you leave and they pick you up at your hotel and take you via penn station to your airport of choice. This is by far the best way and very comfortable.

Also tried the Limosine style cost me $45 from the Wellington Hotel one way nice for a one off but too expensive both ways.

Traveling around NY you can use Taxi's and Buses but sometimes you actualy get there quicker by walking as the volume of traffic is so high.
