Nanaimo BC Lakeview Vacation Homes

Loved it, I have been coming to Lakeview Homes for over five years. I have always found the accommodations are first class and comfortable. The location is centrally located within the city, yet feels so much like a getaway being right on the lake. I would hghly recommend Lakeview Homes to anyone coming to Nanaimo.

We have been holidaying each year with the owner since 2002. She has always been helpful and gone to any lengths to accommodate our wants to make sure we had a good holiday. The home was large and spacious and spotlessly clean, The kitchen was well laid out and you could want for nothing. The bedrooms were light and airy, the beds were comfortable and the bedding was of high quality. We loved using the barbecue and sitting eating our food on the balcony, whilst watching the activities on the lake, we occasionally had to wipe the tables and chairs as you can not stop leaves falling from the trees or dust blowing when the wind blows. We could not have been happier with our accommodation and can not wait until we return in 2008

I liked the atmosphere of the vacation home at Nanaimo BC Lakeview and the view of the lake was awesome. A very homey, but clean and comfortable feeling we had while we stayed there. The owner greeted us and and informed us all through our stay of anything we needed. All in all, my family and myself had a lovely vacation in the Lakeview rental and we would highly recommend this place for a couple or a family wishing to relax by the water in central Vancouver Island. Very well done! I'm sure you will enjoy your stay!

Our association with Mrs Parakin dates back to 2002, during subsequent yearly visits our hosts resolute determination to maintain the highest of standards relative to customer satisfaction never wavered. Rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, the layout and contents of the kitchen is to be commended, we wanted for nothing. We welcomed the availability of the guest laundry, barbecue and balcony furniture which contributed in their own way to the quality of life in the house. The bedrooms were again tastefully decorated and spacious, the beds and bedding of the highest quality. Our host, the accommodation the weather and the tranquility of the island acted in perfect harmony to make our holiday so memorable, memories to cherish until we return in 2008.

I was very surprised when I saw the negative comments posted in the previous review. My family stayed in the same house in the same month and you would think we were in entirely different places. When I read the previous reviews in the guestbook at the house itself, even the ones from the previous reviewer, and they were positive and complimentary. So I presumed others had as wonderful a time as we did.

The negative review also said this house was a duplex, but all it shares with the other house is a carport, so to me it did not feel like it was attached to another house and was a separate building. Also, regarding not being able to use the dock, we used the dock every day we were there, and the owner used the dock, which is a dock used by all of her properties, only in the evening and certainly didn't prevent or impede us from using it at the same time. In fact, if we were there, they invited us out on the water with them which was very generous, not to mention fun!

Thank you Lakeview for a few days of relaxation, fun, and serenity. I needed it!

We would highly recommend Lakeview and will be back again. Lakeview Vacation Homes is great. We enjoyed our stay incredibly. The home, the view and the hosts were all great. The location is excellent, a lake right in the middle of town. The home is beautifully decorated and very clean. The kids loved the kayak and fishing. The personal lake tour of all the lovely homes and to view the turtles was a huge bonus. Greatly appreciated. We certainly will be back. The weather was lovely and so nice to be able to take advantage of so many beautiful sites to see on Vancouver Island.

First impressions were that the property was well appointed and the rooms spacious. However I would not consider it as a luxury home in comparison to other homes we have stayed in and there was nothing mentioned in its description to inform us that it was part of a duplex.

The owner did not visit us until the day we left in order to collect the remainder of the rent. We considered it very unbusiness like that the owner did not meet and greet us and show us were everything was together with instructions for the appliances

Advertised to sleep 6+ guests yet only enough seating for 5 . Green chair shown on web page giving description was not there for us.Unable to bring chairs in from outside as redwood flooring throughout . The owner had previously requested that we leave our shoes off when indoors so metal chairs would have ruined the floors.

There was no inventory. When questioned the owner said she knew exactly what she had in the house and would know if something went missing. Our reply of but what about our rights? fell on deaf ears.

My brother in law who also manages properties made a rough inventory for ourselves. As a possible safe guard which turned out to be very wise as the owner contacted us what she thought were mislaid items and we had to contact her re items we had accidentally left because as we had pointed out from the beginning she had no specific itemized knowledge of the contents because there was no inventory to refer to.

My relatives who live out there were constantly asking if they could kindly view the property on behalf of ourselves. We were travelling a long way and wanted to be sure that we had not made a mistake that may ruin our holiday. There was always an excuse or a broken appointment on the owners part so that they never did see the property. By this time it was too late to pull out and rebook with someone else .

It was very difficult to get hold of her and when we did we got nowhere. eg: on second day she promised that her and her husband would call and help the two men in our party to carry the paddle boat down to the jetty as it needed 4 people. We are still waiting! In the end father and son struggled to take it to the jetty as our valuable holiday time was being wasted.This was very annoying when from our balcony we watched her on a daily basis constantly using the jetty or talking to the neighbors.

The cooker didn't work properly ie: knob pointed wrong way so we played a guessing game each day at meal times. The fire alarm kept ringing constantly each time we cooked. Therefore it had to be disconnected continually. The owner thought it was funny!

Mosquito nets were missing in main bedroom so that one either suffocated or got bitten to death as did my poor sister.

Very difficult to use the advertised boat dock/jetty as the owners friends and family were constantly using it.

After an approximate 9 hour journey and still still feeling jet lagged during the first two days of our holiday we were unable to sleep because of road works right outside the bedrooms the owner had given us one days notice.

Shortly after this we were subjected to the Indignity of roof clearance whilst we were trying to relax. this should have been carried out prior to our arrival

The balcony and table had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and was covered in dust and leaves

Wished to rent motorised vessel as info pertaining to this was promised but was never forthcoming.

We vacated the property and left it in an exemplary condition. Much cleaner than when we arrived and we told the owner so.

Our holiday was spoilt due to periods were there was clearly an invasion of privacy together with a lack of care and consideration..
