Myself And My Friend Have Just Returned From Patar
Myself and my friend have just returned from Patara, Marinem Hotel. We liked it very much.
The rooms were nice. Room service was great, and there was an excellent choice of food and drinks. The beach was just wonderful! I would recommend it to anyone!
It's located in a small village, so it is not very good for parties, but we used to travel into the big city where there are a lot of clubs and bars etc. And the rest of the time we relaxed in our small town.

Perhaps Things Have Improved Since May 2004, But T
Perhaps things have improved since May 2004, but the Patara Marinem was something of a joke when we stayed there. Apparently all the staff were new, as the previous lot had been sacked when the hotel changed ownership and it's name to the Merinem. None of them could speak English (or German apparently) and they all seemed to be learning the job. Room quality was poor (cramped bathroom with broken shower door, useless air-con etc.) and the corridors were very dark and often remained unlit well into the evening. The evening meals seemed OK, until you realised that it was basically stir-fry and pizza every night. By the end of 2 weeks this was very repetitive! Prices were very high in the hotel (4 or 5 times those outside) presumably to tie in with its high (but undeserved) star rating.
Patara itself is attractive, although very quiet. The hotel is located up a steep hill, but there was a free bus service through the village and down to the beach.

We had an excellent Holiday at Patara Marinem. The staff were very helpful pleasant and efficient (Some times perhaps to efficient) It has a good pool; the rooms are clean as is the bed linen. The food was excellent from spicy perhaps Turkish dishes to standard food including Pasta, Macaroni Cheese and Pancakes. The Cakes were lovely also. I became ill at the later half of the week (unable to walk) One of the Managers went out of his way to help. A doctor was summoned, A member of staff was present as an interpreter and injections were administered. Total of 1 and 1/2 hours in time 2 injections and tablets. Problem solved. Total bill £40. Can't be bad. The resort is extremely laid back with a few mossies ( 3 bites for me 9 for my better half) The walk to the beech through the forest is well worth it (1 hour leisurely) I think we will give Turkey another go. By the way for the football fans, One waiter, followed Yeovil
Torquay, Plymouth and Wrexham.
