Golmar Beach Hotel

The Golmar Beach Hotel is a great place to stay if you are looking for a fun, value for money hotel in a brilliant location at the end of Icmeler beach.

Travelling as a family of 4, we stayed B&B at the Golmar, and booked a family room. Our room was ok, nothing special, but a nice size with a double bed and two singles, we had a perfectly acceptable shower room and double balcony.

Most importantly the room was very clean, and was cleaned daily with fresh towels and freshly made beds.

The breakfast was also just OK - typical continental style, bread, cold meats, cheese, some cereal and some fruit alongside coffee and fruit juice. We didn't have the evening meals, but were told they were at best average.

There is dozens and dozens of quality restaurants around Icmeler, so I wouldn't bother tying myself to dinner at the Golmar every night.

The real benefit of a family stay at the Golmar is the excellent swimming pool and two great fun slides for the kids to be entertained all day.

And if the pool gets too busy for you, the hotel has it's own private section of the beach for you to lay on one of their free sunbeds with cushions.

There is also a terrace area to eat your breakfast, and a beach bar with kitchen for a drink or hot snack. Personally this area was the biggest disappointment, twice we ordered drinks on our 1st and 2nd days at the hotel, twice they weren't delivered to our table, and twice they tried to charge us on the bill for them, when I pointed out that we didn't receive them, all I got in return was an "ok" in response instead of an apology. We didn't bother with the beach bar again after that, there is plenty of competition next door and all along the beach who are quite happy to provide you with excellent service.

Overall the highlight of our holiday was the beautiful bay of Icmeler and the fantastic, friendly and entertaining bars and restaurants, we all loved the town and said we'd all like to go again one day.

It's a brilliant place to visit for a summer beach holiday. I'd recommend the Golmar to anyone with a family whose kids love splashing around in a pool, and would enjoy the slides.

The hotel is fine, needs some updating, and a little staff training here and there, but overall we had a great visit.
