We Have Just Come Back From A Week At The Green Be
We have just come back from a week at the Green Beach, and having read dozens of previous reviews decided to give you our honest opinion of the whole deal. Firstly, the complex is huge, set on a hill so lots of slopes and steps. Really not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. Met by harassed understaffed reception on arrival, who to be honest could make a little more effort to be friendly. Allocated a club room with sea views no balcony. Perfectly adequate, everything worked, all was clean and tidy on arrival and was maintained that way for the week with clean towels each day but no clean bedding, which really didn't matter! As expected the toilet facilities left a little to be desired. The hotel was busy, predominantly Russian and Israeli guests. The food was fantastic, there was plenty of it and no conflict to be seen anywhere. (I can imagine it gets horrendous in the high summer, and maybe All inclusive in Turkey is not the way to go). The additional charge restaurants did seem to be pushed in your face a bit, we did not eat at them but spoke to others who did and apparently the fish restaurant is well worth a visit, and well worth the additional charge. There are four outdoor and one indoor pool to choose from, as well as the beach area which is more of a jetty with no shade than a beach! If you don't mind the noise of music and water entertainment and want to be close to the main hotel, go to the main pool. Otherwise there are the quieter pools or waterslides for the kids. Speaking of which, there is loads to keep the kids amused, the evening entertainment until 10 being totally geared to them. After 10, well it is nothing to write home about that's for sure!
All the staff in the restaurant and poolside were friendly and helpful, if you bothered to make an effort! We saw and heard a lot of rude people (mainly British) who quite frankly didn't deserve a smile and a nod.
There is a Spa at the complex as well as many other forms of entertainment (additional charges apply), and a couple of shops downstairs which I would avoid like the plague unless you want to be charged big time!
So, to summarise. No, its NOT a 5 star hotel by our standards, possibly a 3 star at the most, but by Turkish standards it is one of the best.
If You Like Non Stop Foul Mouthed And Extremely Lo
If you like non stop foul mouthed and extremely loud rap music blaring day and night, appalling food, poor service, rooms that were never properly cleaned (our bathroom was under water from a leaking pipe the whole time we were there) then this is the place for you.
All inclusive this is not. Bars are shut at the busiest times and the only option is a paying bar. If you linger too long at the beach bar after your last swim of the day they will try to take your chair out from under you. At 6 they want you away from the sea so they can set the area up for a "special" - pay extra restaurant.
On arrival we were shown to the worse rooms in the place, in the hope you will pay for an upgrade. (Our first room was totally under water accessed from a flooded corridor)
Do not bother to pay for the "extra" meals in the "special Turkish, Fish or Italian restaurants. The portions were small. The mezes which are fresher and cheaper elsewhere. (You can get a lot for 5 euros a head in Bodrum). We were served a chicken casserole that was so burned on you could tip the plate upside down and the meat didn't move. Our request for Turkish coffee was met with 2 cups of lukewarm Nescafe (all that's available in the resort.) A refund on the food was refused and when we complained, a customer services manager explained he was a teacher and only there for the season and could do nothing, we'd paid and that was that.
The staff will also try to get you to pay 35 - 40 euros to stay in your room until pick up time for the airport even if, as in our case it only involves a hour's delay. My advice take the phone off the hook. As for food, we bit the bullet and ate out and not in Gundogan where tourists appear to be seen as gullible and unaware of the going rate for food and drink. I recommend Bodrum rather than Gundogan. And no, I don't have a down on Turkey, we have been there 20 -30 times and love the country and the people.
The Green Beach's only asset is the location, the sea and the watersports - I highly recommend No fear. It hasn't put us off the country but if we return we will look for somewhere smaller and family run.

I can't find any good points. Very rude staff, dirty and smelly bathrooms, very small rooms, broken beds, no sandy beach, just platform etc. In my experience, definitly not 5* hotel maybe 3*

Just Came Home From Green Beach Resort Hotel. Over
Just came home from Green Beach Resort Hotel. Overall a pleasant, very clean, and politely mannered staff. The room service was second to none. Free bar closes at 11 so slip down to the local village and stock up with your choice of beer to drink at your leisure till dawn. Or take the excellent bus service into the unmissable Bodrum.
Would certainly go again nothing major to put me off.

We Stayed At The Green Beach Resort Hotel Last Wee
We stayed at the Green Beach Resort Hotel last week which we booked via the Teletex web site, paid around £850 for all inclusive 5*, flight's and transfers. This hotel which been given a refurbishment in 2006-2007, personally I could not see any remedial work, the rooms were 3* with only two small bottles of water for the week, the rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels but we had to do with the same bed sheets for the week. The hotel complex itself was probably 4* and falling, there was insufficient toilets on the complex which were dirty and smelly, the location in the bay of Gundogan was lovely with gorgeous views and a pleasant breeze every afternoon to cool the resort down. There were only two bars open all day which struggled to cope with demand but the top hat on these was that at eleven PM they closed and each drink after that was chargeable. The food was poor with the same choices every day although the barbeque was fine if you were prepared to wait twenty minutes for your meal. We so looked forward to trying out the Al a carte restaurants especially the Italian, we should not have bothered having to pay an extra five euros each, they decided to serve everyone at eight o'clock, the service was disastrous like an episode of Faulty Towers, cold food, courses not served, eating in the dark at the end, poor drinks service but on a positive note the views were lovely. The animation was quite good and the team tried their best to keep the punters happy but for the other staff, they did not want to speak to anybody and everything was too much trouble for them. I certainly will not be going here again.
