We Stayed At The Loch Ness House Hotel In Invernes
We stayed at the Loch Ness House Hotel in Inverness for a week over Christmas, and in all it was a very pleasant place to stay.
The staff were very professional and friendly, and made us feel like we were long lost relatives visiting.
While the building is old, the floors all creak and the fittings in our room had an air of the 60's, this could be seen as a good or bad point depending on your expectations.
The bar is average, and you're better off going into Inverness to Hootananny's (great pub!). But the breakfast and dinner menus in the restaurant were very good. I'd recommend their haggis clapshot if you've never tried haggis and you're feeling adventurous.
We had Christmas lunch at the hotel, and while the food was edible, it wasn't anything special. I'm far from the best cook in the world, but I could have made a better roast myself, and it would have cost me a fraction of the £100 they charged (for me and my partner).
It's about a 30 minute walk from the town centre, so if the weather is good you can save on a taxi, but even if the weather is bad it's only £5 - £10 to get into town.
