The Windermere Hotel Kendal Road, Windermere

Windermere Hotel in the Lake District was just what we wanted for a short spring break:lovely situation, quiet, reasonable food and friendly staff. Not somewhere to go for luxury, but a great base to explore an area. The room had all the basics and was kept very clean. The public areas were well maintained and comfortable. The original urinals are part of the listed features, but they have been modernised and are very smart, apparently!

If you can get an upgrade, this might be a good idea as the standard rooms are quite small.
