Value For Money

Comfortable, Friendly, Central Location

July 2013: we spent a weekend at the Marriott Bristol City Centre, 2 Lower Castle Street, Old Market, Bristol BS1 3AD. The primary reason for choosing this hotel was its proximity to a wedding reception that we were invited to attend - walkable!

The hotel is next to an NCP car park and there are discounted parking arrangements for guests. It is also opposite the central park which leads to the banks of the River Avon, so perfect for strolling on a Sunday. Furthermore, it is adjacent to the main shopping centre - a modern labyrinth of department stores, designer shops, fashion chains, etc.

Hotel staff were friendly, the room had two double beds (4ft, maybe 4ft6. Didn't measure!) and breakfast was included in the price. Overall, a pleasant place to stay.

Against were very minor miffs: the three lifts always took an age to reach whatever floor we were calling from and the queue for breakfast was unacceptably long, although this was quickly resolved both times, once we sought out a member of staff. Finally, the coffee at breakfast was undrinkable but they serve decent stuff (which you have to pay extra for) in the coffee lounge outside the breakfast room. Ah, well, c'est la vie!
