York, Marriott York Hotel

We booked online but didn't know that the hotel had turned into a building site!!! it was appauling. The staff we spoke to didn't appear too concerned when we questioned this, they apparently said they didn't feel the need to inform customers prior to booking because all facilities were still available. I thought the place looked like a building site and thought that the air was full of dust and dirt! I feel the food was very over priced and poor quality, restaurant didn't seem to have any atmosphere and service wasn't up to standard - we waited 45 mins and still no one came to ask if we wanted to order a drink. Staff were setting up for breakfast round us while we tried to enjoy our not so tasty meal. Drinks seemed expensive to us! Staff charged our card twice for our stay by mistake, they refunded us. I've complained to the head office regarding our stay, but haven't received a response yet.
