Stayed at a lovely traditional stone cottage (The Cottage Fremington) in the hamlet of Fremington, just above (and only a short walk from) Reeth in Swaledale. Wasn't sure about Swaledale before we got there (having previously been ardent lovers of the Lake District), but we were delighted with what we found. Lovely countryside and a tremendous sense of quiet and of having gotten away from the hurly burly of the city and the commerce (which is sometimes too prominent in the Lake District market towns). The Cottage Fremington had been converted very nicely from the old stone family home. Lovely exposed wooden ceiling, very tasteful furniture and attractive kitchen. Two very generous bedrooms and a lovely spot to sit outside and enjoy the view.
We have no hesitation in recommending the place. If you want, peace and the wide open Dales, then self catering in Reeth is ideal.
