Scarborough, Crown Spa Hotel

I can't fault the room itself. But the rest of the facilities were not up to scratch. I have frequented many spa hotels and aware of the standard to expect from each service.

Cold jacuzzi, even colder aroma room

Breakfast was cold

Smoking was not managed and the hotel foyer stunk, as did we when we had to constantly pass smokers at the entrance.

I followed up the hotel with my comments and it took a week to respond, on,y by a Twitter message did I get someone to look at my email. I had tried to ring the hotel and tOld they were too busy to deal with things.

The eventual response I got was rather dismissive of the experience, basically stating I was incorrect with my views on the spa and that there was nothing they could do about the smoking.

Again not the ronly spouse I would expect from a 4*

Breakfast had a been refunded on the day, but overall it just added to the unexpected poor standards.

Our room had amazing sea views and was very comfortable. The furnishings were in good condition but rather dated, one of the housekeepers showed us one of the refurbished rooms which were light airy and furnished in a modern yet contemporary way. We were booked on a bed and breakfast rate, but took advantage of the vouchers and enjoyed a wonderful meal in Taste Restaurant. The leisure facilities were second to none and we left the hotel relaxed with the desire to return in the future.

I think the other reviewer stayed somewhere else as the hotel was anything but somewhere to avoid.

The Crown Spa Hotel website shows some very nice pictures of the rooms, from the experience of my stay this is misleading, the upkeep of the accommodation is poor and they could do with a revamp and some new cleaners, avoid!
