The Hideaway Is A Small Family Run Guest House In
The Hideaway is a small family run guest house in Windermere (not Bowness-on-Windermere). The decor is clean and stylish with stunning rooms. We were in room 7 which is one of the larger doubles complete with ensuite. The room was at the top of the house (which has 12 rooms in total) and the only downside was a slightly small bathroom (ok for me but not too great for my tall bf!) but it was clean and had a shower over the bath. The room itself was huge with an oak bed, matching furniture and a 21 LCD TV. It was amazingly quiet and very comfortable. We stayed during the week for a 3 night break and the owners have a great offer for midweek stays, we got a 3 course meal for 2 thrown in! Normally it would cost £30 a head so made the deal really worthwhile. Every afternoon there is complimentary tea and homemade cake (the chocolate is divine) just what you need after a long walk out in the rainy Lake District. The guest house is perfectly situated at the top of Windermere and it's only a 2 minute walk to nearby restaurants and shops and another 10 mins to nearby Bowness-On-Windermere where you can gaze out onto the lake.
Everyone who worked there was lovely and friendly and the food was very satisfying. The Hideaway calls itself "a restaurant with rooms" which I think is underselling itself. Next time I hope to stay in one of their newly decorated ultimate luxury rooms. (Fingers crossed)
