The Has To Be The Worst Experience Of Holidaying I

The has to be the worst experience of holidaying in the Lakes.

The room was advertised on the web as wheelchair accessible, my young son who is wheelchair dependent couldn't get his wheelchair through the font door of the room, even though they brought a wooden ramp to access the step up into the room. There was a stone pillar obstructing the doorway on the outside, the door way was way too narrow. After getting the wheelchair round to the rear of the room, with the use of a wooden ramp provided by the hotel and a lot of physical help from myself...we finally got inside the room. We were met by the pleasant aroma of filthy toilets...so much so we felt physically sick. The room was filthy, you could write your name in the dust on the tables, the single bed was falling to bits.Once in the room my son could not access the doorway into the bathroom as the doorway was too narrow and the corridor of which the door led was too narrow. We did not stay the night...instead asked for our money back and we booked and stayed at a neighbouring hotel again at fraction of the price and this time fully accessible. This room was a complete contrast to what was pictured and advertised and the price was unbelievable. The night before we had stayed in a luxury room in another establishment at a fraction of the price. I would not recommend this hotel. This hotel is NOT wheelchair accessible !!!!!!!

I Have Not Actually Stayed At The Burn How Hotel,

I have not actually stayed at the Burn How Hotel, Bowness on Windermere, but the service we received before hand has put me off for life and I would advise anyone DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!! Basically we booked for a new years break for four adults, we booked via a link on the hotels own website which had the ref find a room at this hotel, it took us through to the youstay.com website and the booking and payment went through fine, it wasn't until I contacted the hotel about another issue that there staff informed me that they were in fact COMPLETELY SHUT for the last week of the year into the first week in Jan. I was confused by this as I did not think a hotel would close over such a busy period so I got a colleague of mine to contact the hotel and ask for a price for the same stay, I was shocked when she was informed that a brochure was being prepared for this period and would be out in the post to her in the next two weeks. So I called the hotel back and asked them if they were 100% sure they were closed, she confirmed they were. I then went on to tell her I knew they were not and was it in fact the case that the hotel was open but the rooms being sold at inflated rates to cash in on the Christmas and New Year trade, she said she did not know and would get back to me. I wrote a letter to the manager of the hotel putting my point across and informing him I did not take kindly to being lied to and that it was a link off his own site and therefore he should honour the rates. He sent my a very rude letter back saying I was being unrealistic thinking I could stay over that period at the rates quoted and that I should not stay at his hotel!!!!!!! Bestwestern whose chain it belongs to have also washed there hands of the matter claiming they are simply a marketing organisation and have nothing to do with the day to day running. It is my advice to anyone who thinks every customer is important and that bad customer service should lead to lack of trade DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.
