Sunnymeade Hotel Woolacombe , Stayed 22 To 28 May 2011

Room 4 was fine, the food was awful,( A ward winning Food you must be joking ) our first evening meal was our last, no choice, 1/4 chickhen breast on the bone plus wing pen feathers,a big dollop of what went for stuffing ,plus veg. a glass of cheap spanish plonk at £3.00 a glass.

our first Breakfast was ok, after that it was all down hill,Burnt bacon, sour sausages, old eggs -yokes as flat as the white, the breakfast was dumped on the table before you had finished your cereal.so breakfast was cold.

Awful. Our First Greeting At The Sunnymeade Countr

Awful. Our first greeting at the Sunnymeade Country Hotel was a grabbing hand demanding our card in order to pay up in full!! Where was the "hello, good evening, have you had a good journey?" We let our dog into the "dog friendly" garden for a much needed wee, whereby he was bullied and barked at by the staff dogs. The staff were aware we were in the garden but did nothing to control their dogs. We left the garden and didn't use it again! The room was just adequate, nothing more (apart from the smell of damp). The tea and coffee tray held enough for two drinks each, and was not replenished the following day (cheapskates or what!)The breakfast was a truely revolting experience. Own brand cereal, watered down cheap orange juice. Very greasy. Very poor quality, cheap and nasty bacon and sausages, and some sort of vile, pale spread stuff that was obviously put there instead of butter. Home make bread?? Oh how we laughed! Shop bought sliced bread. Does the office of Fair Trading or Trades and Description know about this place. Surely it's illegal to pass off your goods as one thing when they are in fact another. Like calling itself a Country Hotel. It's nothing more than a very, very, very poor quality B&B. Fortunately we have a sense of humour, so our stay in this 5th grade B&B was put down to a cheap and nasty experience, but certainly gave us a few laughs over exactly how not to run a customer orientated business. Having owned pubs with restaurants and accommodation, we know what's good and what's not, and this is definately NOT!! Move over Faulty Towers you have a real contender. Our most enjoyable part of our stay? Opening the door and leaving!! The worst part of our stay? Opening the door and entering!! Oh and be warned, although the website implies the "hotel" is off the main road in it's own grounds - it's actually on the main road. Oh and the bar??? Well, unless it's invisible, behind a secret panel, or flat packed - we didn't find it. PLEASE GIVE THIS ABYSMAL, UNPLEASANT, GHASTLY PLACE A MISS. We will award it 1 point for the audacity of simply trading.

A Warm Welcome On Arrival At This 'dog Friendly' G

A warm welcome on arrival at this 'dog friendly' guest house. Good, home cooked food. The bar exists but is not easy to locate and appeared never to be opened unless the owners were specifically requested. I would agree, in general, that the place is dog friendly but I dislike the requirement for dogs never to be left alone in the rooms. Dogs must be placed in the owners car whilst meals are taken; not to be recommended on hot summer days! I recommend the use of a travelling cage in the room to obviate the need for this nonsense. Our room was rather cramped and 'tired'but it was kept clean. The bathroom was very cramped but, again, it was kept very clean. The shower head was not adjustable since the clamp had broken. Our TV did not work at all on the first night but this was the date of the area switchover to digital. I notified the owner next day and a new, LCD set was installed immediately.

Super Little Guesthouse/ Hotel. Very Clean, Excell

Super little guesthouse/ hotel. very clean, excellent food, friendly staff. Superb disabled facilities for a small place,Good location for touring North Devon. we were a family of 6 over 3 generations and wanted to do lots of different things so Sunnymeade arranged surfing lessons, clay pigeon shooting and quad biking. We had four lovely days with excellent meals in the evening and a drink in the cosy bar afterwards. the staff went out of their way to make our holiday a suceccess. we will definately be going again!

Sunnymeade, A Super Place To Stay. Westayed At The

sunnymeade, a super place to stay. Westayed at the sunnymeade for 10 days last year and had a lovely time.the place was well situated for touring the area and it was very clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and the facilities were superb for a small hotel/gesthouse. Wehad a disabled Mother and 2 surfing children, the room for my mum had the best disabled room ive ever seen in a small hotel. our kids had there own room with a good tv and video and we had good favilities for our surfboards and wetsuits. the food was very good with a limited choice. the four staff were very friendly and gave good advice on where to go, the Sunnymeade also takes dogs very useful to know, we will bring them with us next time. weve booked with them next year.

The Website Does Not Give A True Picture Of This S

The website does not give a true picture of this so called hotel.

We were booked for 3 nights bed breakfast and 2 evening meals. When we went down to dinner first night we were told abruptly we had arrived too early for dinner which was at 7pm we arrived 6.55!

There is a bar but the owners went to bed around 10.pm and asked guests to turn the lounge lights out apparently according to other guests they do this everynight. So much if you want to have another drink.

There is a code number which guests are given if they want to enter the hotel after 10pm (we had dogs so we had to let them out last thing at night) We were not given this code on arrival the other guests had to tell us the code number. The following morning I queried this and was told it was because I had not paid the bill on arrival.

Also the next morning I asked to see the menu for the evening meal as they like you to chose what you want she replied that they were not cooking that night mentioning something about help had not turned up and only two people for dinner. If I had not mentioned this I suspect she would not have told me.

Other complaints is toilet roll not replaced in room I had to hunt around for one, she would not accept payment with my credit card despite saying they accept credit cards on the website. Very sloppy with serving up food, one plate of casserole nearly landed in a guests lap. Generally this hotel came across to me as a place with an unhappy atmosphere with the owners not enjoying doing this.

The Sunnymeade Hotel Is Definitely Oversold On The

The Sunnymeade Hotel is definitely oversold on the web site. We never found the bar, felt it better to stay out all day, even during a very wet and windy day. Although dogs are welcome, the room was tiny and very cramped. What should have been a relaxing holiday, became an uncomfortable week.

We Had A Lovely Holiday At The Sunnymeade Country

We had a lovely holiday at the Sunnymeade Country Hotel in Devon. The people were very friendly and helpful, and they serve great home cooked food. We were sorry to leave, but we will be returning again with our little dog.

The Website For Sunnymeade Country Hotel Gives A F

The website for Sunnymeade Country Hotel gives a false impression of the general standard of the rooms.

I was stupid enough to book online without searching to find reviews and I urge you not to do the same.

The rooms were chintzy and grubby and the bed was broken. The shower didn't work (only cold water) and the staff were unhelpful.

When I complained I was treated very rudely and told in no uncertain terms that a refund was out of the question.
