Rude Staff - Treated Wedding Party Appallingly

Rude Staff - Treated Wedding Party Appallingly

I was at a wedding at the Rosehill House Hotel in Burnley a few weeks ago and I was totally shocked by the hotel's attitude.

The hotel was not particularly clean and the staff were rude but I'll come to that at the end of this review - after talking about the treatment of the bridal party.

Half way through the afternoon the manageress seemed to decide that the wedding had been paid for and therefore she didn't care anymore. She was rude to the bride and groom, and everything was too much trouble. A room which had been arranged for the buffet became "unavailable" and it was set up in a tiny room instead.

There was a big issue around the cake which meant that the bride and groom weren't able to cut it in front of their guests - they had to go through the back with the photographer instead.

The manageress kept bothering the bride with everything that she wasn't prepared to do with the result that the bride snapped and told her to leave her alone. The manageress then actually mouthed off about the bride to the groom!!! Completely unprofessional and unnecessary - especially given the size of the bar bill being run up and that, with the exception of the manageress, the whole wedding was one the most good natured I have ever been to.

On to the hotel itself.

Pros:

Reasonably good value (c. £60 a night)

Breakfast (full english) was good.

The bed was comfortable and we slept well in it.

The bartender was fantastic - really nice guy.

Cons:

Several staff members were really quite rude. In particular, one woman who was in charge of breakfast was exceptionally rude and ill-mannered. No-one in the breakfast room got more than a grunt of acknowledgement when she was asked for anything - and that only if they were lucky. Several times people would ask if they could place an order for the full cooked breakfast and she would just turn and walk away to get it without saying anything.

When I was waiting to check out, the staff members on reception were giggling over facebook and barely paying any attention to the guests.

The rooms were reasonably clean but not spotless. There were some ornaments which were very dusty and the flowers in the room were nearly dead.

Food was passable although this did not make up for the upset caused by the attitude towards their 'customers'. I would not go back to Rosehill House Hotel.
