this was possibly the worst holiday experience ever. I fully concur with the other negative reviews re rudeness and uncontactable nature of owners. worst of all we never had our £200 deposit refunded. they said we had left vomit in loo and smoked. given that my 2 friends and I are long term non smoking tee totallers this seems unlikely. they also cited the fact that we hadn't cleaned. we did a certain amount of tidying up but isn't that the point of rented holiday accommodation? not having to clean too much

I love ighthouses and was excited to book this. As someone who makes sure I don't cause additional admin for people I sent the balance cheque to the address on the website only to then receive a stream of abuse, via email, from the owner, on which he copied someone I don't know. To abuse me in writing was bad enough, I can only assume the owner thought he was being very clever in being so increadibly rude that he wanted to show off to his friend. I was so upset I considered cancelling the holiday, I have never been so rudely and horribly emailed, ever.

As we were staying at the lighthouse with friends I didn't cancel, as I didn't think it was fair on them. The place itself is special and it's such a shame that I can't recommend it as a place to book because of the hideous owner.

The owner is a complete nightmare, is the rudest person I have ever had to deal with and I almost cancelled the holiday because of his outrageous behavour and attitude. I received the most offensive email I have ever had from him which had no justitifcation. I never got the deposit cheque back but gave up because I didn't want to instigate any further contact with this horrible man.

The lighthouse is spectacular but a lot of the equipment in it is cheap and broken. In addition there are instructions everywhere telling you all the things you aren't allowed to do. It makes for a less than enjoyable experience unless you're able to laugh the stupidity off.

Please don't give this offensive and ill mannered man your money.

We have been trying for 2 months to contact the owners to inquire about making a booking. They never reply to the phone nad we have left messages but they never call us back. We have sent emails through various booking companies and through their website but no one ever replies to us. Appalling service. We gave up eventually and decided to go on holiday somewhere else.

Nice place but the owners don't allow any pets any more which is a real pain if you want to take a dog on holiday to the beach. They are very slow at returning the 200 pounds breakages deposit, we had to send several emails and finally 3 months later got our money back. We also found that the internet was very unreliable.

What a fab place- 10/10 we had a great time, beach really close nearby. I would recommend Burnham High Lighthouse.

We have paid more for a week in a cottage in Galway with no heating!

Burnham High Lighthouse offers a unique experience, the view from the top of the tower is definitely worth the climb up the 120 steps (we counted).

We found the owners Patrick + Jill very easy-going- we have a small dog and struggle to find dog-friendly accommodation and although pets are restricted to the ground floor she loved the little built in kennel to settle down in after those long beach-walks.

The website reckons 200yds to the beach but it doesn't seem like that when you're there!

A lot of thought has obviously gone into the layout + interiors, having a little kitchen 2nd from top floor is a great idea and there's been loads of attention to detail throughout.

Would definitely go back!
