Brighton, Barcelo Brighton Old Ship Hotel

The Barcelo Brighton Old Ship Hotel is on the sea front and is reasonably priced - you can get a double room for £49 per night if you search for it on the internet. The nice reception area belies the rest of the hotel - our room was pretty awful. Mould on the ceiling in the bathroom and the bedroom, mouldy grout between the tiles, wooden framed (mouldy) single glazed windows, torn (but clean) sheets with an ink-stained throw. A nice stain on the carpet outside to room as well to welcome you. Our room was at the side of the hotel, we were woken at a quarter to midnight by the hotel next door wheeling out their bottle bins for collection the next morning, and then at 6 o'clock in the morning by them being emptied by the council.
