I am widely travelled but this was possibly the worst restaurant service I have ever received. The waitress savaged us for requesting a second piece of bread. A very short menu was often reduced further by items being unavailable. A surly, anything is too much trouble attitude was demonstrated by all staff over a five day stay. Offered a free transfer to Fawlty Towers I would have leapt at it. I will not be back.

We stayed in a family room 2 adults & 2 kids at The New Westcliff. The room was clean and comfortable and quite spacious, the en-suite was spotless but the shower was a bath mixer with the shower head just screwed to the wall.
We stayed on a half board basis with breakfast being cereal, toast full English or eggs any way up etc etc tea and coffee very nice. Evening meal was 4 courses fruit cocktail, soup, choice of three main meals lamb pork beef etc loads of veg and selection of pots all very nice. The children's menu was not that good sausage and chips fish finger and chips etc etc etc.
The entertainment started at 9.00pm till 11 pm a little late for young children and was mostly wannabe singers and the odd comedian good fun after a few pints.
We were in a family room right next to the ballroom which was quite noisy untill 11pm, stay away from here if you want an early night (rooms 2.3.33)
Hotel is situated about 10 mins from town, quite hilly and 10 mins from lovely sandy beach 100 steps down the cliff to beach
On the hole just about average for a 2 xx hotel
