El Sombrero Apartments Are Stunning And In Our Opi

El Sombrero apartments are stunning and in our opinion well exceeding the official rating. A gentle walk of 10 minutes from the main resort up a slight incline, they provide the perfect base for a holiday. The majority of the balconies get the sun for most of the day with pleasant views over La Gomera and some glimpses of the Los Giganties cliffs. We consider they are the best presented and equipped apartments we have enjoyed in the Canaries. Our studio was clean and very well decorated, a good sized living area well laid out. Bathroom was as good as you could expect, but the biggest plus was the kitchen. If unlike us you eat in the apartments you would not struggle to operate in the good sized kitchen equipped with a 4 ring hob and full size oven, toaster and kettle. In fact there was so much cupboard space there was only a cup and plate in each one.

The grounds are well planted and set out with staff constantly walking around tidying up. The pool area is tadge small in the middle of the buildings, but proved adequate at the time of our stay. Pool bar was well stocked with drinks and reasonable snacks and like the rest of the place the staff was excellent.

We have only ever been back to the same apartments once before in the last 12 year but we both agree this could be the second.

We Went To Tenerife On Allocation On Arrival, Whic

We went to Tenerife on allocation on arrival, which we had never done before! I was dreading it!!! Thinking we were going to be put in the back of beyond in a little run down chalet.

Well I was very pleasantly surprised. The El Sombrero Apartments are lovely, and Los Gigantes is a lovely little town with an almost village like atmosphere. There are plenty of eating places, and we found a great place down towards the harbour (Ocean Drive), and an English couple own it. They were lovely, and the food is superb.

Also right on the harbour we had a meal one night at, I think it was called something like Bella Napolini?? The T-Bone steak was out of this world!

All in all we had a great week. The weather was lovely (22-26 in the daytime and 15-19 at night time).

I will recommend Loro Parque to anyone who goes to Tenerife. It is wonderful and great value for money at 24 Euros per adult. The bus was about 12 Euros return, although it is a 2 hour bus ride if you go it alone and not with your tour operator, but it is worth the ride over the mountains.

If you want to go Dolphin watching you should go on Flipper Uno, from Los Gigantes Harbour. It is great value, and loads of dolphins were seen. All food and drink is included in the price at 25 Euros per adult.

Buses are frequent and run from around 6am until about 11pm. The main stop is literally round the corner from El Sombrero, and you can get just about anywhere on the island from there. Bus travel is quite cheap.

I found this review very helpful because...it was to the point & gave pros & cons (there were mainly pros).Santiago is only a short walk away & Route 66 is a cracking night out,Old dogs new tricks-the resident group comprising Jill a comely lass with excellent voice, Bob guitarist with unusual sense of humour & their marriage guidance counsellor on drums.
