Barranco Apartments

Good holiday.

Myself and 3 girls headed off to the Barranco Apartments in Playa de las Americas on the 17th of June for a weeks holiday. It was a last minute cheap deal, so we really weren't expecting much. We were very pleasantly surprised! We had 2 apartments right beside the pool. They were clean, and they had everything you could ask for. Our rooms were cleaned daily, and we received new towels nearly every day. We even managed to cook quite a sizable dinner one night, so no complaints with the kitchen. All the staff were very helpful and understanding, even when we decided to take a "midnight" dip in the pool. They told us quietly to go to our apartments, which was nice, as they weren't threatening! I had read a review after I booked the holiday, and I was apprehensive about going. A lot of bad reviews had been written, but honestly, if you're looking for some safe apartments right in the centre of town, with everything right on your doorstep at a very reasonable price, you can't go wrong.

Most of the people that were staying there, it was their 2nd or 3rd visit. It's maybe not the ideal place if you're on a crazy holiday and are planning on bringing back people, as they won't get through security!! That didn't affect us, and they were very helpful when we couldn't open our door because we'd taken advantage of the many 2 for 1 offers in the bars on the strip!!

A great holiday! If I ever go back to Playa de las Americas I will be booking into the Barranco!!

Myself, my boyfriend and 13 year old daughter loved Tenerife and the Barranco apartments in Playa de las Americas. We had apartment 19 which was perfectly placed, and had sunshine on the balcony almost all day. The pool is a lovely size for families. The staff were lovely, and they even tried to help my daughter with her Spanish. The Barranco apartments are on a lovely street with every thing you need, including restaurants, bars and arcades with internet access, which is a must for all teenagers. Don't go down to the main beach front at night if you have children, as it gets very rowdy. There's plenty to do around the apartments anyway, and if you go on excursions don't buy from reps. Next door to the apartments is an excursion shop selling trips. We went to Lorro Park which was around 120 Euros from the reps for three of us, and next door we got the same trip for about 40 Euros cheaper. Final tip: At the bottom of the road is a supermarket which is very reasonably priced, and they sell loads of English products.

I have just came back from the Barrack Apartments yesterday 24/09/04 and found it to be everything you can expect from a 2 star hotel.

The location was perfect and everything was within reach.

The staff were actually very friendly with us considering we are only young and they explained why they needed our signatures and deposit which is also explained before you get there by the rep.

We only had one problem which was the spiral staircase but as it states in the Sunset brochure it isn't suitable for certain people we can't really complain.

Overall an excellent holiday will defiantly be returning.

I have just came back from Tenerife where I stayed at the Barranco Apartments, I found that the receptionist was very moody and took a dislike to young holiday visitors, they weren't helpful at all and never smiled.

Also they take your passports off you and make you sign something that you cannot understand.

The apartments were very small and the spiral stair case is a hazard!!!

Also I and my 3 girl mates got a warning from the rep for coming in singing! How pathetic?

Playa de las Americas , Barranco Apartments - Accomodation was very good and clean apart from spiral staircase. Cleaner came 4 times a week but sheets never got changed and towels were only changed once. Barranco was 5 minute walk from nightlife and we found a shortcut to Starco's by walking up past the Piramides and then down the steps!

Food in Tango bar was uneatable! Mini-market on site was expensive and make sure you check the use-by dates on food because some we bought were out of date!! Worth it to go over the road to the Netto supermarket but you aren't allowed to take bags in, they have to be put in a locker on your way in.

Apartments have great sun terrace on the roof, a little sun trap that doesn't get too busy and has a few loungers.

Be prepared to pay a 15euro per person breakage deposit and check your list when you get to the room because we had a lamp missing and had to tell receptionist or wouldn't get money back!

It's 17euro for deposit box for a week and you get 5 back when you return the key.

All receptionists were nice apart from one who was miserable all the time! The people in the mini-market were a bit miserable too!

On first morning, woke up to find a few ants in the apartment but we sprayed the steps with insect repellent and only saw a couple more for the rest of the week!
