Wow, This Place Really Did Blow Our Socks Off! It
Wow, this place really did blow our socks off! It was just a paradise retreat! We booked one of the villas (you can also book a suite) for a week through Thomson holidays, and the entire break was fantastic. Upon arrival we were staggered at how manicured the gardens throughout the complex were, beautiful birds of paradise bushes and clematis everywhere! Then we got to our villa! There were only two of us, and the villa had 3 double bedrooms! It was bigger than our house at home! Each villa has a large living room with 2 sofas, glass coffee table, air conditioning unit and large flat screen HD TV (on which you can get English, German and Spanish channels), a dining table, a thoroughly contemporary kitchen with electric hob, oven, microwave, kettle, toaster (some of these things, as with the iron, blankets etc are kept in a cupboard so look before you ask!) The decor was lovely, neutral creams and browns, and a marble-esque floor. The main bedroom was beautiful, with fitted wooden wardrobes (large enough to fit all my holiday dresses in!), a huge king sized bed and it's own en-suite bathroom with double sinks, toilet, shower and a jacuzzi bath! The piece de resistance had to be the double glass doors looking and leading out to our very own pool. The pool was lit up at night (although not heated) and we had a wonderful view of the sea over our balcony. Our villa was very private, flanked by rose bushes at each side, and every villa also has it's own BBQ which is just a lovely touch. There were four sun loungers around the pool, a large parasol, and a very big outdoor table where you could enjoy your morning coffee in the sun, or a glass of wine overlooking the sea by night. Villa Alondra also provided a complimentary bag of coffee, tea, biscuits, bread, sugar, toilet tissue, crisps, and 2 bottles of wine! There was a book packed with things to do in Puerto del carmen, places to eat, tourist attractions, numbers to call in an emergency (there is a phone in the villa, and also a pay phone in the complex). The complex has its own restaurant which unfortunately was not up and running when we went. It also has a large play area and pool for children, but this was on the suite side and being child-free we did not pay a visit! All in all, the Alondra villas are a real treat, a wonderfully luxurious holiday destination. I have a feeling we will be going back someday soon!
