Me And My Boyfriend Went To The Monteverde Hotel I
Me and my boyfriend went to the Monteverde Hotel in July 2008 for our first holiday and we really enjoyed it. The room was really basic what do you expect in a 2 star. For the time we spent in their anyway, we weren't bothered. I feel people with bad comments are moaning over nothing and are in fact nit picking. Go their and have your own view of the place. There are plenty of bars and restaurants and the one in the hotel does not close until 1 am, so where people got 7 o clock from is beyond me.
Overall our holiday was great and we had no problems in the hotel what so ever.

I Would Not Advise You To Go To This Hotel. I Thin
I would not advise you to go to this hotel. I think it is more of a run down hostel. The food is poor, rooms are very basic, some staff are slow to deal with requests and seem miserable and the location is poor. The pool area is dirty, the few sunbeds available are broken and so are the two umbrellas. There is no entertainment to speak of. Even if this hotel was free, I would never go there again.
Porto Cristo is a lovely port town but is only worth a day visit. It is not geared up for tourists, very few restaurants and shops and the few there are close around 7.00pm. You can get the local bus to Sa Coma or Cala Millor/Cala Bona but you have to get a taxi back because the buses stop at about 7.00pm. Taxis cost about €14.

For The Price We Paid For The Monteverde Hotel And
For the price we paid for the Monteverde Hotel and what we actually went on holiday for (peace and quite), we couldn't grumble. It was very clean and the maid service was excellent. As we went in October there wasn't much night life, but we could easily have got a bus into Sa Coma for a night out if we'd wanted at 1.40 euro and return by taxi at about 10 euros. The Alibi bar is 10 minutes walk away so when the hotel bar closed at 12 we often wandered down there. It's run by a friendly English couple who will stay open as long as there's folk in drinking. We filled our days in sunbathing either at the beach or by the pool and visited the Caves of Drach (over the road from the hotel). The Caves are very good value for money, 8 euros for an hour. The shops in Porto Cristo seemed to be quite expensive, but the bus service is great and we often went to the other towns near by for shopping days. Sa Coma especially has a good range of shops and the beach is lovely (watch out for the locals selling melon/pineapple, they offer you a taster but then expect you to buy some, often very expensive!). The entertainment in the hotel could do a lot better; it was basically a CD repeated over and over again, interrupted only by a game of bingo. There was an entertainer one night who was so bad he was good and a karaoke another night. The pool is small but clean, there is also a park for the children, tennis courts and mini golf. There wasn't a kids club but they amused themselves quite well.

Monteverde Hotel has lovely rooms, the food was lovely and the all inclusive option was even better. Nobody tells You the lovely beach in Porto Christo Novo! Go there! It's beautiful there! Only three kilometres distance. You can go by little train, bus or bicycle.

My Boyfriend And I Stayed At The Monteverde Hotel
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Monteverde Hotel for a week at the start of September this year.
The hotel itself was nice, think it has been recently renovated in the lobby and bar/restaurant areas. The room is quite small but it is fine for what you need, all rooms have a balcony either looking out over the pool or the harbour. The bar was nice, plenty of seating inside and out, pool tables and games machines; also I think there was a computer with internet although we didn't use it. The pool bar is fine for what it is to do. The pool is nice, not too cold! There is also a tennis court, mini golf and table tennis. The dining room is plenty big enough for the number of guests that were there the same time as us although I think it may be a little crowded in the height of the season. There is a Jacuzzi which is very nice but only open a few hours a day. there is also a small gym but I didn't use it so can't say what it is like!
Staff - Reception staff were very friendly and most helpful, spoke English well. The bar staff didn't speak English too well but understood drinks orders. Watch out for the girl who works at the pool bar she was rather moody!
Food/drink - the food was very good for an all inclusive, plenty of choice. For lunch and tea here was always plenty of salad and bread rolls. There were different kinds of meat cooked in different ways each day, always pork there! Always chips or potatoes, and pasta with a bolognaise sauce. Not sure if much for fussy children except chips and some battered food such as nuggets or battered sausage. Desert always good - cakes, jelly, blamanche, ice cream, yoghurt, angel delight, that kind of thing. Not good for traditional Spanish food if that's what you want. Breakfast there was Spanish breakfast i.e. cheese, ham, bread, also there was always cereal and toast and full English! Help yourself drinks during mealtimes. breakfast 8-10, lunch 1-3 and dinner 7-930. Snacks available at pool bar between 10 and 1, hot dogs, burgers, chips and sandwiches, only ham and cheese though. Drink was good (especially as it was free!) local spirits is what is available aswell as lager and soft drinks.
Hotel entertainment - The entertainment man Bibo was very friendly; he did daytime activities such as tennis and football. There was entertainment at the bar most nights such as bingo, karaoke, live music. They went on to about 12 every night so if you wanted to go to bed early most nights I recommend trying to get a room with harbour / sea views not pool views as they overlook the outside bar where the entertainment is held.
Area - Porto Cristo itself is beautiful. There is a harbour and a sandy beach only about 10 mins walk from the hotel. Down by the beach there are bars and restaurants, also down on the harbour there are some. Daytime - The Caves Of Drach are just across the road from the hotel which I recommend as they are spectacular! And only about 8 euros. There is also an aquarium nearby, and you can go on glass bottom boat trips from the harbour. Nightime - No nightlife in Porto Cristo, only a few bars open late, so if you want a lively clubbing holiday then I wouldn't recommend this area but if you want a nice quiet relaxed holiday then this would be good for you. No kids club so they may get bored?
For the type of holiday we wanted which was relaxed and quiet, we had a fantastic time. So I recommend this hotel and area to anyone who wants the same type of holiday as us.
I found this review very helpful because...We are going in June and have read some bad reviews. We havent paid for a 5 star hotel so we dont expect a 5 star. Went to Belle Vue Apts in Alcudia heaving read bad reviews and it was fabulous

The Monteverde Hotel Was Nice And Clean And The Ma
The Monteverde Hotel was nice and clean and the maids cleaned rooms daily, the pool was nice and clean and a good size. They stopped serving drinks at 12pm and bar staff were rushing you. They stopped serving snacks at 1 in afternoon, the snacks were not very nice, and they were often cold. The poolside bar would close at 5pm so you had to go to the main bar in the hotel. The bar staff were not very friendly. The dining room were full of flies and the food was the same most days. The entertainment was rubbish, they hardly played bingo, it didn't start until 10.15 at night, they played 2 games that lasted half an hour and that was it for the night!
The Monteverde Hotel Offered An All Inclusive Holi
The Monteverde Hotel offered an all inclusive holiday. The food was excellent for the first 3 days as long as you were Spanish Or French as they catered mainly for there taste, but as the hotel filled mainly with Scottish holiday makers the quality of food dropped dramatically, service at pool side for snacks only between 10am -1.pm
Bar 1 member of staff, there was a 10 to 15 min wait for a drink. Also there was a lack of branded drinks, all inclusive basis supplied you with local drinks and also good at running out of beer twice in three days.
They would completely close down all seating areas at 12 midnight meaning you either went to bed or had to get taxis to take you to another local resort for entertainment, this costing you an average extra 28 to 32 euro a night as in Porto cristo pubs with entertainment had to stop at 12midnight. It was almost impossibly to get cold water from the water chillers after 11.45pm as they would not seem to refill until the next morning.
The Hotel was Clean, Its Good for older generation. It Would have been beter if booked BB Basis. Personally I think £718.00 for 1 week for 2 a rip off.
All inclusive is a Bad Idea.
