Samos Hotel

We were very pleased with the choice of hotel, until one night we returned to the hotel, earlier than normal (aprox 3am). We were outraged and upset to find the hotel security guard in one of our rooms. He was crouched down when we entered the room and he had plastic bags on his hands. He was not actually permitted to be in our room and could give no explanation as to why he was in there. Nothing was actually taken from the rooms but a few of our belongings were moved around. Luckily this night 3 of us had gone back, unlike 2 nights before when one of us had returned to the room. It was a scary experience and we were very disappointed with the response we got when we actually informed the 'hotel manager' who we later on found out was actually just the night porter. The day after we made sure we had a meeting with the actual manager and told him all about what had happened. He didn't really say much and talked a lot about the noise that is made in the hotel, which is obviously going to be an issue as the hotel is situated next door to the biggest nightclub in Magaluf. Eventually he understood where we were coming from and for a group of girls all aged 18 it was a frightening thing to happen when you are on holiday. I think what made it worse was this was the security guard, someone who is supposed to make sure everyone is safe, and to find him in our hotel room we were disgusted and shaken. The problem did get resolved and the security guard did not return. Even though the security guard was removed from the hotel we were not offered anything to compensate for what happened.

The Samos Hotel on first impression is clean tidy, good staff and excellent location. That is until the weekend where the hotel obviously takes the easy money by offering 3-4 day stag and hen parties, not caring about the comfort of the other guests. If you are under 30 with no children you will automatically be put in a room on the first 3 floors along with numerous stags and hens, so don't expect any sleep as each room has a TV which seems to be stuck on the porn channel and very loud with no volume control! this is the case unless you are Spanish, where you will be put further up the hotel where it is quieter. The staff are pleasant enough with you, so long as you don't complain (reception) the bar staff are really good and chatty with a great sense of humour...cheers guys! The restaurant staff really should make the effort to smile, or give a hello (god knows why some of them even bother to choose this avenue of work).

The rooms are a wee bit dated but nothing too bad. Air conditioning is great if not a bit too noisy at night.

I was impressed with the food - a great selection every evening, all of which was cooked very well.

But all in all I wouldn't bother going here again. (UNLESS IT WAS A STAG WEEKEND!)

Samos Hotel was clean and tidy, but was very dated..was in need of new furniture around the hotel as the sofa`s and chairs were all ripped The hotel is 10 minutes from the beach and only a 20 minute walk to the water park..staff are nearly all freindly but some need to remember why they do the job that they have chosen...beach is very nice is right next door to pizza hut which was handy at dinner for 2 hungry kidz...lots of family bars wehere children are made welcome which was good...all in all the holiday was ok but would stay outside Magaluf next time due to the lager louts......
