Kensington Apartments

cheap and cheerfull. the lady in charge couldn't have been more helpful. nice balcony for people watching. noise at night was no problem with the double glazing. clean linen. changed when you wanted it. kitchen basic but adequate. we ate out mostly. the apartment was a good size. all in all a lovely visit. free wifi which worked. telly had about 90 channels not a lot in English but we were in spain to visit not watch telly.

I suppose for where it was, we couldn't expect wonders, but this was just so basic. The twin room had clean bedding and towels, but on arrival the lights would not work and there was no toilet roll. When we went to let the receptionist know, we felt as though we were invisible as she made us wait at least 5 minutes before even acknowledging we were there. The shower cubicle had mould on the ceiling above it, the 'door' into the toilet had no handle, the flex to the kettle had some of the wire showing and the carpet was a hazard waiting to happen as it had not been fixed down properly. It was really in need of a good revamp. The room was at least warm during the day, but freezing in the night, even with the spare blanket they had provided.

The single room didn't fair much better. It was clean, but again there was no toilet roll in the bathroom on arrival, the bathroom actually had a very strange 'shut up' smell about it, and there was terrible mould on the ceiling. It was tempting not to even use the bathroom, but needs must!

I know for the price, you couldn't expect miracles, but come on, get your act together. This was a great location, so close to the tube station and concert venues. For such a superb location, it was a shame the accommodation didn't live up to it.

Kensington Apartments. Good points, location. Close to all beaches. Cheap. Bad points, very thin walls. Very small bath. Poor shower. Poor cooker. Staff miserable. Pay your money and take your chance
