Read Loads Of These Reviews But Work In The Indust
Read loads of these reviews but work in the industry so i know you cant please everyone all the time. Just spent a week at the Hotel Lagotel and for once i could have stayed a few more days . The staff are so friendly , rooms are large ( we had a family room ) my son loved been bag chair . As allways a few brits let it down but the hotel it's self is large but not too big very clean has fab pools , lovely grounds nice food ( not the widest choice i've ever had ) but all well cooked and no upset tummies. Entertainment fine , sports catered for has extra pools across road , live payella and sangria was spot on and tasted great what a bargain, 1 euro 50 per adult under 12's free (that's on a friday lunch and that's for both ). There is only one fault ,drawback what ever with this hotel that's the location it's not in Alcudia as we were lead to believe but a few miles away in Playa de Muro free bus to beach and short taxi ride cost about 7 euro to port de Alcudia , but the staff especially manuel more than make up for it . Supermarket on sight is very reasonably priced and fella that does the disco excetra is a right laugh ( not really good at his english but his superman cosy is not to be missed )

Got This Hotel On A Allocated On Arrival Basis And
Got this hotel on a allocated on arrival basis and we were pleasantly surprised
We got a very spacious apartment with great air con!!!
We never used the pools as they were so busy and the pool area was noisy with the entertainment until midnight at least
We were never bothered by the infamous mossies of this area - i think we were lucky!
The resort and beaches are a 15 min walk away - there is a bus service but this is not free and unreliable
Supermarkets near by are handy and there is lots of places to eat but they were very english restaurants - we struggled to find any Spanish food at all

We Found Alcudia To Be An Excellent Resort For Fam
We found Alcudia to be an excellent resort for families. We stayed in the Apartments part of the Lagotel, which had a separate bedroom (twin beds) and two sofa-beds in the sitting room. The sofa-beds were fine for our son (who is 10), but they might be uncomfortable for an adult to sleep on.
The apartments were cleaned every other day to a high standard, and the rooms were well-appointed and fitted.
The hotel has 3 swimming pools in the main complex and another 2 over the road. The main pools have plenty of chairs and non-adjustable sunbeds to spare, but there was a lack of adjustable sun loungers, and unless you were down at the pool by 10am, you were pretty much out of luck. The pools were large, clean and well-maintained, nicely-shaped and with plenty of space for weak swimmers, kids and adults alike.
We had specifically booked this resort because of the kids club, but in the event our son did not want to go to club. All he wanted to do was swim! My husband and I were happy to chill out by the pool and keep an eye on him. There is a nice pool cafe/bar or you can go inside to the main bar and bring drinks out to the pool. We drank enough slushies to float the Titanic! We had lunch several times at the pool cafe, and service was friendly, and the prices were reasonable.
Lagotel is about 5 - 10 minutes walk from the sea-front and main shops. We tried a variety of the restaurants. Every one we visited had a good kids menu, although our son was more interested in the adult menu! There is a new Chinese restaurant very near the hotel which we tried one night and found very good, though towards the high end of the price range. Las Palmeras grill restaurant is also very near the hotel and excellent value for money. We ate there twice and had a very generous main course and dessert (the desserts everywhere were absolutely gorgeous!) each for less than 45 Euros. We also ate at Nuevos Rancheros (up towards the seafront and turn left), at which we had a good meal - medium price range, but slow service. We also tried Topos Giglio (towards seafront and turn right) which was at the higher price range, and the service was slow (but friendly), but the food was superb and very generous portions again. We also tried the two restaurants right on the seafront, I forget the names, but both were better for lunchtime light meals than evening food.
The entertainment at the hotel was... well, if you fondly remember "Saturday Night at the London Palladium", you'll love it. If, like me, you remember it with fear and loathing, my advice is to drink yourself into a state of well-being, or stay away. We played Bingo a few nights, although as someone who worked in bingo clubs for 6 years, I felt an urge to leap onto the stage and beat the caller to death with his own microphone for not taking it seriously! However, our little boy and most other kids seemed to enjoy the entertainment, so we were happy with that.
Prices in the resort vary enormously depending on where you go. The shops at the very centre seem to be generally more expensive than if you go a bit further afield. The supermarket at the hotel was particularly pricey. If you're going self-catering then I suggest you bring your own tea, coffee, sugar and cereal etc., since you'll be looking at 4 or 5 Euros for a box of Rice Krispies! Shopping for other items though was a pleasure, and I got some great bargains on clothes, perfumes and swimwear etc.
One word of warning: the wetlands of S'Albufeira are quite near and this means the mosquitoes are out in force. I would recommend taking at least 2 cans of Jungle Formula or similar and keep reapplying. I sprayed myself from head to foot twice a day, but then I forgot one day, and I got about 8 bites on that day alone.
All in all, we had a really excellent time, and we would definitely consider going back.
I agree with this review because... i have just returned from the very same hotel, and also stayed in the apartments. I felt a lot of the points in the review were as if i had actually written it. We were transferred there due to being initially placed in unsuitable accomodation, so had no prior warning of the notorious mosquitos in the area. However, we plan to return next year, armed with plenty of repellent as this was the only downside to our recent experience of the hotel and area.
