Es Vive, Figueretas Hotel

This hotel is ALL style and NO substance. Made famous by the beautiful people of Ibiza and renowned for its parties, for many visitors to the while isle this is a dream destination.

We went on a honeymoon and although the hotel was very expensive, the simple fact that there were CD's named after the venue was a sign that this was THE place to.

We dealt with the staff mainly via email, they were courteous and we booked in for 2 glorious weeks. Our arrival was met by a party clearly in full swing in the Smirnoff experience bar. Tired from a long day we opted to head up to our room and settle in as it was 2am.

The room - this hotel is a boutique hotel, please be aware of this. yes you will get funky decor and modern art prints, yes you will get stylish furniture. You will also get what I can only deem as 1/2 a room. This was tiny, it did not have so much a balcony as a shelf. The view overlooked the pool and we had oblique sea views. Bad enough that one of us had to sit on the bed to allow the other enough room to walk around, what really iced the top of the cake was that this deluxe room was above the bar so we were essentially stood in a speaker.

Sleep did not come easily, the party carried on but then again this was a hotel known for its nightlife, it was a Saturday, we agreed that some noise was inevitable. The thrum continued through until 7am and then..........the bliss of no bass. That lasted for 20 minutes, then they turned on the poolside music and we were back amidst the speaker.

This is - as with all things Ibiza - not dictated by days of the week, this none stop assault carried on day and night. With significant complaints they moved us to another room on the opposite side of the building, here we had some quiet during the day and a stunning view of a building site. We checked out at the end of week one and booked into a hotel with a room at three times the size and 1/4 of the price.

Don't let the looks of this hotel deceive you as all that glitters is most definitely not gold.
